The space arc felt like they were trying way too hard to shoehorn in as many 80s references like they were Ready Player One or some shit.

THIS. Early seasons were the best. It didn't need an ongoing story and they should just stop the show if they felt they are out of ideas. An open ending would be the best for this.

Space arc was a hard alright level season. I'll never not hate CN for shitcanning them halfway in and a lot of the space stuff never got to happen so it just comes off as a boring "sorry ran out of ideas" season to most people. If you watch the "plot" episodes of Season 7 you'll see a fuck ton of foreshadowing. Even an early S8 episode blatantly showed the rival park had their own dome. The vending machine guy was supposed to have a story rivalry with Benson's park's ship. Never even appeared in person.

Seriously god damn I just wanted to know what their ideas were but no one on the staff really talked much about the show especially once it ended and they moved to their next project.

Regular show overall was great, but the space season was boring as fuck. I mean, they could've used episodes to do stuff like flesh out stuff they needed to. Maybe show some more of Rigby and Eileen, or even fix Mordecai's whole conumdrum.

But no, instead they made ton after ton of retarded space adventures episodes. They weren't even good, they were boring. Take the space bugs one, for example, it was the most run of the mil "Visiting an alien planet" episode you could possibly have.

I didn't particularly like the angle they were doing where it's "planet is all one thing from earth". I thought for Regular Show that was pretty weak. I also remember thinking "fuck what if one of the park guys other than pops is teased as an alien if there's a planet of talking praying mantises?" which thankfully didn't happen. RS could have came up with a lot of unique aliens for planets, and maybe we would have seen that if they got to do the terraforming story arc which would have been extremely interesting, them having to cut that out completely left the space arc pretty much nothing up to the end.

Bonus Stage was a flash cartoon that "ran" from 2003 to 2006, on Keenspot/Keentoons.

It featured quasi-normal sitcom situations that would drastically escalate and then implode, as flash cartoons were wont to do at the time. As the show progressed, the creator got tired of it and, in the final "season" the characters build a spaceship and go to space to have space-themed adventures.
I didn't like it in 2006 on the internet and I didn't like it from September 2016 to January 2017 on TV.
