Princess and the Frog seems iffy given that this is the first time I’ve heard that movie come up in years. Is there another appropriate option?

Splash Mountain is based on Song of the South - an old Walt Disney film containing three animated segments based on the Uncle Remus stories and strung together by a live-action narrative in which the stories are told by the Uncle Remus character in Reconstruction-era Georgia.
The movie is controversial for several reasons - but perhaps chief among them is the depiction of the status of black sharecroppers in Georgia during reconstruction as relatively jovial and entirely willing workers on those plantations. This is not an incredibly accurate depiction of that kind of situation, and has attracted criticism. Not helping maters is the fact that the source material - the Uncle Remus stories - were written in an incredibly thick and stereotypical black accent.
An excerpt from one of those stories for example:

The funny thing is that the ride itself doesn't even have any elements from the original movie. The only thing that it had from the original movie was just the characters.
Everyone is just complaining over literal nothing.
And another thing that I'm always confused, why does nobody treats the whole movie as if it was a product of it's own time? There's no point of throwing a fit over a very dated movie that was made in the context of it's own time instead of our time. Instead, this movie should be treated as a piece of history just so that people can learn it's faults in it's representation and the way it handles the context of the movie. There's no point of erasing history.
