Just finished it. Man, if I leaked the plot of this shit two years ago nobody would have taken it seriously.
Deviantart-levels of fanfiction put on a pedestal.

Is there a shittier character in a capeshit property than Ozymandius' daughter?
Everything about her screams DeviantArt OC.
This show couldn't even beat out CW shit in terms of ratings and was crazy expensive to produce. I really doubt Lindelof actually wanted the series to end at season 1 and I think it's hilarious how both he and HBO are pretending it's some mega-hit.
can't even imagine what kind of shit they would come up with after season 1 already raped the comic book's corpse to the bone
HBO know exactly what they're doing with these things.
The CW produces omnipresent shows to sell advertising space, HBO produces evergreen limited events that get bought as boxsets and binged. It's going to accumulate more viewers over its lifetime than any episode of the Flas this year
The entertainment industry took a huge hit to writing quality when the strike happened over a decade ago, and it never really recovered. Watchmen being milked is a damn shame too. I still love the comic but all the fanfic OC that has come along since has cheapened the original. I could maybe understand of it was just insanely popular or something but no one even likes this show.
>one even likes this show
8.1 on IMDB, so there's that.
frankly the series isn't terrible per se. it was entertaining enough not to drag very much. still feels like a fever dream that they decided to take watchmen of all things and made a cartoonish commentary on white supremacy, among other things.
like, it doesn't give a shit about the point and the themes of the original, but you can't fully get the series if you didn't read it because of all the REMEMBER THAT stuff thrown in. You'd have at least to have watched the snyder movie (to which it frankly owes a lot in terms of aesthetics, music and framing).
that said, paradoxically, still better than fucking doomsday clock
>still better than fucking doomsday clock
user, have you ever heard the term "faint praise"?
at least the tv show tried something new in terms of story and themes, regardless of how good or bad they are. doomsday clock is literally watchmen with dc characters thrown in, and the ending is absolutely ass
>no one even likes this show.
I wish. I've spoken to plenty normies who love it and its existence makes it harder to find discussion/content for the original comic.
Really? I feel like most of the "good" shows were post-writer's strike. Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Mr. Robot, etc. Only good shows I can think of pre-strike are Sopranos, the Wire, and BSG.
I had one episode left before my HBO expired. Never finished it.I wouldn’t call it BAD. But honestly none of it really gripped me. It didn’t really do anything new or amazing. It didn’t feel like it was connected to Watchmen at all.
The commentary and world building was interesting at least, I like the idea of the phone booths, the clock, but those could have stood alone and not on Watchmen’s shoulders.
How can this guy make gold like LOST and The leftovers and then THIS?
the greatest part was like 5 seconds long
lube man
We need more heroes like him on the streets.
It was what it was. Just like Doomsday Clock. Watchmen did not need any sequel or prequel. But nothing is ever lasting.
kek, forgot about that, too bad the series forgot too
>on
you mean sliding
If it doesn't have Moore's input it can all be regarded as fanfic shit. I don't give a fuck if it's put out officially.
Retard proles just need actors doing serious faces and they'll eat up any garbage and call any trash amazing.
You are right. And Moore is right about leaving Watchmen alone. HBO show was entertaining, but only that. I liked it, but nothing special to write. Visually it was greater than the story, but it's only because the visuals that I remember anything at all about it. And acting was good.
This show is good, and tried very hard to recontextualize the themes of the comic and depict the consequences of the ending of the comic. Don't be butthurt.
>Live in ohklahoma
>All the people just finding out the race massacre actually happened
>they're putting it in curriculum now because of the show
Honestly had more impact than I thought it would. didn't turn into the new game of thrones but was far from a failure
Sister Night!
That screams OC Donutsteele!
She is Rorschach, Night Owl and SilkSpectre combined and asssimilate Dr Manhatten at the end.
Never saw a character that is crammed with so much importance and skills like her.
She is Superman, Batman, WnderWoman and Jesus combined in only 9 episodes!
Yeah, I don't give a shit about a show "trying hard". Fuck off, shill.
At some point everbody thought it is ongoing.
They advertised it as the next Games of Thrones, never was said it is a mini, just season 1.
Than the backlash came and Lindelof suddenly said "If fans want to continue, we will make more"
And after the ratings wer not as wished, suddenly it was a mini, Lindelof said, it can go on, but he wont be avaible becasue he wanted only one run. HBO than said, he was so great, they would never do one without him.
That really is damage controll, because many hardcore HBO Watchmen fans wanted more so why not continue?
Is this show even watching for someone who really appreciates the comic? It feels like I'm just in for getting pissed off at all the shit they get wrong.
>This show is good
No, but parts of it were.
Don't watch it. It is not worth the aggravation.
Maybe watch certain episodes, though.
....No, on reflection don't.
This
Sometimes you will think "thats clever", see similarities to the source material but than see that it is shallow calories and that clever set ups end in obvious and hamfisted conclusions!
Regardless of your views of most of the show, Lube Man and the Hooded Justice episode were both kino.
I'd really say it's worth watching. The ending fucking sucks and like said some set ups absolutely fail to pay off. A lot of concepts from the comic are carried on and explored in interesting ways but others, especially characters, are raped. Ultimately though I'd say it's a solid TV series but one that's destined to fail to live up to the quality of its source material.
>The entertainment industry took a huge hit to writing quality when the strike happened over a decade ago
That is some peak bullshit right there.
