While I understand the Operator appeal of Frank Castle, it always baffled me why Punisher would become a symbol of the police or military. Frank's backstory is defined by all the ways military and law enforcement institutions used/failed him and those around him. Frank's whole point of going vigilante was because the system was broken and he felt like he had no other option.
As I am typing this I just realized that a lot of law enforcement and military personnel probably have the same sense of disillusionment with the system as Frank but don't have the means/guts/psychosis needed to start shooting up thugs and gangsters like Frank. So putting a Punisher skull on their car, gun, or shirt is the closest they can get to living that ideal revenge fantasy.
All this needs is like Colin Kaepernick type endorsement and Marvel’s official blessing, and you will see people making youtube videos of burning Punisher memorabilia.
