They announced the campaign weekly for about a month before it started. Looking at the number of backers, I'd say it evens out.
That wasn't for season 3, it was for the English dubs of seasons 1 and 2.

There have been talks about weekly or biweekly salaries to smooth out consumption patterns, but it would fuck everything over. Everything financial would have to be remodeled.
