Why cant they make a good live action movie about him? Is it so hard?
Why cant they make a good live action movie about him? Is it so hard?
Because he’s not very interesting and people don’t care about him. You can say it’s casual but it’s true, and casuals have the money to give incentive for making a movie. Frankly they find a autistic furry beating up a clown better than a superstrong alien (who looks like a regular white guy, not even blue skin or something) who’s only weakness is a green rock
Do you read comics?
Because most people find him boring or dislike him.
Even if they did you'd find a way to hate it
Superman's character il OLD STORY.
It has been so overused that everybody could believe that someone with god's powers would use it for good.
Superman is not inspiring or relevant anymore, the only thing he is now is PowerLevel Man.
That's the only reason he isn't forgotten.
Because DeathBattle fans uses him as "he can beat everyone".
That's why you still think at him, for Power Levels
I don’t get why people who don’t read comics or watch cartoons come to this board
All posts in the thread so far are wrong, people actually love Superman when they get a glimpse of him. The real problem is that nobody in Hollywood wants to make a Superman movie. They want to make a movie about THEIR SPIN on Superman, which always involves some sort of gritty, flawed over-angsty bullshit that doesn't fit the character. When Man of Steel was being marketed, before release, it was the most hyped thing in the country. Literally everyone was excited for it. It only became reviled and controversial after it released and we all found out Zack wasn't making a Superman movie, just the latest hack job attempt at "subverting" him.
Because you faggots are so easy to trigger it's hilarious. I could post a picture relating to the current BLM of Seattle warlord shit RIGHT NOW without saying anything and I would be guaranteed at least 20+ replies about it while the thread is derailed into political talk.
Zig Forums is incapable of taking bait and it's why you have more and more shit posters moving in.
Because what Superfags want is for Superman to be a flawless alien that everyone will worship. Do you not see how off putting that sounds? I don't want to watch that shit.
They'd need to set in the past because really no one gives a shit by and large about newspapers these days. And really he is a character that works best in more optimistic times. Hollywood would be hesitant because the fags running the place would have trouble forcing the diversity quotas and propaganda they wanna push.
That's not what Superfags actually want though, they hate that shit more than anybody. Superfags just want a simple, kind, likable Superman. His whole shtick is that he's a good guy who wants to help. That flawless emotionless god shit isn't who he's meant to be.
Just dont put an edgelord as a director
>who’s only weakness is a green rock
When I see your movies, all I do is watch the clock,
'Cause there's nothing fun about a superhero scared of green rocks!
Look at those panties! (Oh!) You got that camel toe!
I'll report to Lois Lane and Superman dat ho!
>no one gives a shit by and large about newspapers these days
Then why not give them a modern-day career? Why not make the daily planet an online newspaper? Or better yet why not make superman like a Tim pool or Hunter S Thompson independent journalist character who publishes exclusively online?
You got a pedophile director before that and all you cried about was how he was a deadbeat dad even though the film was generally edgeless. You're going to be miserable and nitpicky no matter what. Studios already think he's dated, doesn't help his fanbase are touchy old grumps.
Absolutely this. Superman is too cynical for modern cinema which is so afraid of being considered corny. Snyder hates Superman. He wanted to ‘fix’ him.
Cause Ch-ch-cha-cha-changes
They did, twice. Superman and Superman 2 are both good.
It's just no one can make sincere superhero movie nowadays so they either go full edgelord or create 'self-aware" shit that is ashamed of the superhero concept.
Superman Returns was a mistake on lot of levels. It fell down as a continuation of the Christopher Reeve movies, but might have done better as a love letter to them. The premise that Superman has been away a while and is trying to find his place again is fine. Inserting a spare child conceived under slightly creepy circumstances (keep in mind he mind wiped Lois after fucking her) does taint it a bit.
Superman himself isn’t the problem.
The complete inability to use his villains are. A lot of his villains, while not particularly bad, represent almost nothing other than being his villain.
Sure you could make the movie about him trying to help some of the more tragic ones like Bizarro or Metallo, but you’d need to make the movie more about the villain than the hero then
I kinda just want to watch a superman TV series with little to no supervillains. Just Supes going around helping people, being inspiring and shit. Often dealing with disasters and fucking up white collar crime like in his origin days.
Supes power growth from the silver age onwards fucked him up, and severely changed peoples view of him, and the stories you could tell with him.
The Daily Planet should be a multimedia news source now anyways.
Limited paper distribution, treated like 'The New Yorker' of Metropolis. Online News Blog. Daily Planet live news broadcasting hosted by lead editor and lead anchor Perry White in a "Daily Show with John Stewart" kind of style. Planet Radio with Steve Lombard who also still does sports
It’s not even just Snyder, DC tried to fix him for like half the past decade before they gave up and tried to erase all traces of that period.
this
honestly its really sad when a fucking clio from Harley Quinn had me liking their supes more then most modern cape shit media
People only come here to shitpost and trigger fandoms
Sure sure sure
A lot of the Silver Age stuff was interesting because it was often implied (as the shared universe aspect was much less prominent) that Superman had eradicated most conventional crime entirely. So lots of the stories were about Superman dealing with other problems. Sometimes they were bizarre stuff like ancient robots arising from underground cities and other times it was trying to find a balance between helping build homes for the poor and not driving construction firms out of business. Genuinely great story telling.
It would work if they hired Grant Morrison and the Wachowski's to make a zany super-science adventure set in an alternate universe 1940s with flying cars, typewriters, ray guns, and a global media system based on print journalism and pneumatic tubes instead of the internet.
The plot would be an investigation into the common man's capacity for individual heroism and the power of journalistic grit and integrity to defend a just, democratic society. Jimmy Olson appears in drag, Lois Lane stows away on a spy plane, Jeff Bezos shows up in technicolor power armor, and in the final fight a depowered Superman saves Metropolis from the anti-life formula on the basis of his ability to influence others to do good through his basic human decency rather than his physical strength.
But nobody in hollywood believes in camp, so.
Which was kind of the approach that happened in the Justice League movie, where they just retconned Superman into being a likeable and friendly guy instead of a dour, depressive who came across as resentful of humanity.
How many people that have the money, power and that are in the position to make a live action movie got to their place by being like superman? By being honest, hardworking, kind, all that good stuff superman represents. The reason they can’t make a good one is simple, they have no idea why people like the character, the "super" part they understand, power is great, but the "man", that is confusing, all that power used for everyone else, it stumps them, so they can give us the fights all day long, but it will be just that, mind numbing action, all super no man, the core will always be broken because superman comes with a message, but it is being said by people that don' believe in it and can’t even understand it.
You still get good animated movies because those are able to be passion projects of nerds that genuinely love and get the character, but those people don’t really make it in Hollywood.
