Anybody else seen this absolute masterpiece of Chinese animation and lore? It’s on cuckflix and is the highest grossing Chinese animated film of all time.

They do kinda throw a lot at you, but it’s got charm and is fun to watch.
That's just the trailer though.
I watched it yesterday. It was... OK. The progression of events felt really wonky to me though. Like, it goes from Nezha fighting a simple dog-eating water demon to him fighting a city destroying dragon in the next scenes. It's just a really big leap in power scaling.
yeah that was a really good movie
Is this in anyway related to the Guild's boss from Legend of Hei?
i hope we get a sun wukong movie from these guys
Are there any scenes of him peein' on stuff like Calvin from Calvin n' Hobbes?
unironically he pisses fire on someone
Trying to make sense of the plot requires you to pretty much believe god is both omnipresent yet absent yet specifically moving exact pieces so closely together that a single second off would mean the whole plot would fall apart. There is a god in this universe and he's what would happen if Kira was a black father.
That end credit scene also made it look like that dragon wants to fuck her brother and I don't know how to take that.
Nice to know that the Postal Dude is Nezha's dad
I'll give it a watch
Didn't he die at the end? that kinda sucked
My mom dragged me with her to watch it
It was alright I guess
Calvin never actually pisses on anything
That image you saw is an edit of him filling a water balloon
>is the highest grossing Chinese animated film of all time.
I thought it was Avengers Endgame
>That scene where Nezha rumages through an ugly bastard's crotch
I really liked the kids design,
I hardly remember anything about it other than the general plot mostly because when I watched it with friends it was poorly machine translated.
Compared to other Chinese CGI films, this is definitely a step up in quality. But on its own, it still suffers from many of the same problems endemic to Chinese CGI: unfocused and often derivative plots (much less so with Ne Zha), thoughtless videogame-style cinematography, and light show finales that is more spectacle and less artistry. The ending is almost identical to White Snake, and borrowed heavily from The Fountain, for example.
The Chinese have the skill, they also have the technology, but they still do not have the creative freedom or ambition to create a CGI film that is competitive on the world stage. Given the success of this film in its homeland, one might argue that is not necessary. But it's disappointing all the same. It's a lot of craft and diligence in service of regurgitated ideas.
Yeah, it's no coincidence the most original and crazy fictional stories tend to come from the country where you can find used panties vending machines, the freedoms the creative minds of Japan have to live without shame in their ideas and interests sparks so much creativity that would be crushed in any other society.
screw china
Not my Nezha.
Mischief Nezha best Nezha
Is this one of those Xianxia things with the absurd power levels that puts dbs to shame?
His fucking mythology alone is several books how the hell are they going to fit that into a movie
Nezha's a guy though
> god is both omnipresent yet absent yet specifically moving exact pieces so closely together that a single second off would mean the whole plot would fall apart
Thats actually it exactly
he has super strength, can fly, control fire, and can transform. But he will get his ass kicked because he wasnt written by hacks
Wow cute shota!
no that the monkey king
Did anyone watch it Dubbed? Weird hearing Eggman as the good guy.
There were a lot of parts I enjoyed about it, but I saw it with my dad so we had to see the dub, which was absolutely awful. Hearing 4kids's Eggman VA the whole time didn't help much.
The story was a bit too simple and definitely very juvenile, but the action scenes and animation were incredible. The movie doesn't end very satisfyingly because it seems to be demanding a sequel. Not sure if I'd reccomend, to be honest.
Anyways, this is now a Chinese animation thread, so go watch All Saints Street.
