Ok, level with me, who else watched Gargoyles just for Demona?

She was like my favorite character. She was the only figure I got from this show. I hoped for the entire show that she'd get her shit together. Sadly she never did.

seriously, best character

Same but with Elisa.

I remember watching the show back in the day, but I can't recall any plot

I know we like to make wild claims about how this character and that character gave us fetishes or “awoke” something in us, but to be honest she’s probably one of the root causes for why I like bitchy women so much.

Nope, no eyebrows no sale.

I always wonder to myself, is this show really that good or was it just that since most shows in the early 90's where really childish it was easy to make a big splash?

she was so angry and sassy. Too bad she kept fucking her own life up.

Were kids even aware of the morality story with her? That she kept lying to herself, and each lie just made her fuck up more and more?

Just about everything was her fault, and it was because she wouldn't stop being dishonest with herself.

cartoons had started to shift to being about kids in school. I think Recess, Gooftroop and quackpack was around this time. Kids still like weirdshit cartoons, and this was a weirdshit cartoon. The last few episodes and reruns were also airing in 97 when the big magic craze hit with harry Potter.

Did she hate the form and become a lesbian out of spite?

I watched Gargoyles for Gargoyles and i got Gargoyles and yes Demona was a sexy piece of Gargoyle but i always thought she was a Mystique clone with all the similar features of family issues, hair, skin color and their aggressive similar nature and trying to connect with their daughters and bring them to their side.

>Did she hate the form and become a lesbian out of spite?

this was always a stupid plot twist. Like, her and macbeth getting married and being happy together would have been a nice ending for them, but they had to do a little twist with Demona, again, being a dumbass and fucking her own life up.

Its like the creators hated her. They never missed a chance for her to ruin her own shit.

Demona left me with a love for red heads and a fetish for demonic girls that I still have to this day.

she had a sweet side too.

You don't understand the character if you think a happy ending was ever in the cards for Demona.

I liked the first season when the gargoyles are learning about modern life. I got bored sometime after that. Not that the show was bad, but it's clearly made to occasionally watch on TV instead of all at once.

>You don't understand the character if you think a happy ending was ever in the cards for Demona.

This is Disney. She either has to die, or find happiness but in a way different from the start of the show. She was never getting back with goliath or the old clan. BUT there could have been a lesson about admitting fault, moving on, finding new love.

The entire show is great, way ahead of its time.
Would have loved to see Coyote and Puk interact

So she was the Catra of the 90's?

Demona & Callisto (Xena) were my first crushes.

Isn't she responsible for MacBeth's family getting killed? There was too much bad blood for them to be happy together. Besides, the endless self-destructive cycle she's stuck in is so central to her character and such a major driving force behind the show's plot that it can't be done away with casually. If she was ever going to break out of that tailspin, it needed to be more dramatic and climactic than just shacking up with MacBeth.

I downloaded the whole series and I always find it funny how some episodes randomly had really good animation. Because I promise you most episodes looked nothing like this.

To be fair, Macbeth was considering betraying her and her entire clan. I'd be pretty pissed too.

No Macbeth's family probably died at the hands of the Canmore's.
I'm honestly sad we never saw Macbeth interact with the Hunters, it would have been so cool for them talk with a man who's been fighting Demona for nearly a thousand years.
As for Demona's own self-destructive tendencies, it has to do with Goliath. Demona spends a thousand years after her betrayal at castle Wyvern seeing how bad humans can be, and then in the 90's she finally gets Goliath back. Then it goes down hill and we get to the point where she's got a rocket launcher pointed at him on top of the castle.
At this point it would have probably been poignant for Goliath to say he forgives Demona for her part in the destruction of the Clan, and it would've probably meant enough to her that would give her something to think about.
See even if she's in denial about how much of her Clan's destruction was her fault, she knows that she had a hand in it. She knows what hate is and what it's like to hold onto it. So seeing Goliath forgive her would've been something that shook her to the core.
Just a thought.
There is one episode in the third season where that Minotaur dude shows up again, and I swear to god they give Elisa the most dick sucking lips possible and animate her as sexily as possible. Like fuuuuuck.

Coomer as I may be, i'll never understand being able to watch something for a single character. If I watch something, it's going to have to be good, I search for stuff to lewd from it afterward.

He considered it, then dismissed it the very next second. If Demona had literally waited ten more seconds before storming off she'd have heard him say how valuable her and her Gargoyles were and that he trusted her.
Macbeth was a king and he had to listen to all suggestions from those around him, but he was also a good man.

she's a tragic character, it's her appeal to me, her fucked up life is her own fault. I eat that shit up

It's something most people grow out of. I'm sure everyone here had one character they liked so much they binged a show just for more as a child.

Fun fact, that's a shapeshifting dude.

it doesn't have to be (just) for coomer reasons, that one character could be interesting or well-written enough tot carry the whole show for you

pic related, for me Gargoyles was less about gargoyles and more about the billionaire-genius-asshole who went out of his way to fuck with them every other week
