Would this have been better received or regarded as even more of a disaster had it been a Batman story like Miller originally intended?

As a veteran, I liked it. It was nice to see something not gloss over one of the longest running wars in uS history.

Worse.
There is a reason they wouldn't let him do it.

The fuck are you talking about?
There is one scene that is kinda effective showcasing suicide bombings, followed by dozens and dozens of pages of a 14 year olds edgy revenge fantasy.

There is no serious commentary on terrorism, the rasons behind it, the conduct of the US in the Middle East, the ethics of torture etc. It's just Frank Miller jerking off about NotBatman injuring and killing dudes.

Remember the reaction toward All Star Batman? It'd be that, but 10 times angrier.

That said, pretending it's Batman as it was originally supposed to be goes a long way to explain why he acts like he does in All Star Batman.

It's a good comic portraying muslims as they really are, so cucked Big 2 fans would hate it.

>better recieved
Probably not.
>regarded as more of a disaster
Probably less of a disaster, bad takes on popular comic characters get buried under all the other bad takes on the same character unless it has a really lasting impact.
Would have made more money.

Why didn't he make it about Batman going to Saudi Arabia and taking out the REAL bankrollers of 9/11 instead of fighting impotent cave dwellers? Fight the real enemies America was too cowardly to take on.

Anyone have a link to the edit?

The difference is this would've had a political shitstorm on top of them doing a Batman that the fans that complained about All Star Batman would also find out of character.

Definitely even more as a disaster

I don’t even hate Frank Miller for writing the fuck dude was actually at Ground Zero when 9/11 happened and it’s clear he had a lot of issues to get out of his system.

911 fucking destroyed his brain

It'd have been better received if the western left could manage to get muslim cock out of their mouths for five minutes.

The kicker was that it exacerbated his long-standing painkiller and alcohol abuse.

Also he might have caught mesothelioma or lung cancer or some other form of respiratory disease from the attack like a lot of people at Ground Zero did .

I mean look at photos of the dude from before 9/11 to just a few years afterwards. Dude looks like he aged fifty years in less than two.

Because you can’t have superheroes take a strong stance on any political issues without pissing people off and making them in marketable to large portion of the public.

You're missing my point. Holy Terror is a Frank Millar Batman story with the name filed off. The issue is that notBatman is impotently fighting the wrong enemies, the same retards in caves we were fighting in Afghanistan IRL, and not the real evil masterminds who caused the tragedy that started all this.

I liked it. It definitely wasn't bad.
It's not a revenge fantasy, it's a justice fantasy.
It doesn't need to be serious commentary.

>hUuUrRrRr *BRAAAAAP*
Retarded folk say what?

With regard to our twenty year long Middle Eastern cluster-fuck-o-rama I think this is really the only funnybook you need to read.

Go be butthurt somewhere else, preferably after you pray to your pedophile goatfucker.

It wouldn’t ha e made it better. The story is trash, but the art is great. It’s just revenge porn over 9/11 that looks pretty.

>Punisher kills Russian Mafia, Serbian human traffickers and corrupt CEOs
>wow so cool Ennis is the best Punisher writer ever
>not-Batman kills muslim terrorists
>NOT NOT MUH POOR MUSLIMARINOS SHITTY REVENGE FANTASY REEEEEEEE

>YoU'Re A mOoSeLiMb
And you're an imbecile, fuck off war criminal.

You first, terror apologist

>All Star Batman
That was a parody, made to be a parody.

>subhuman sandmonkey calling anyone else an imbecile
Precious. May Americans bomb you some more.

Because the approach is different, and there's nuances and the villains are people instead of cardboard cutouts, and the entire comic isn't just fuming anger and fetishized revenge fantasies

>Ennis' villains
>not cardboard cutouts

Ennis’ villains tend to have clear substance and character to them.

Yeah, if by substance we consider "look how many kittens I can drown so you hate me more".

It’s more boring than anything. WW2 comics were a much more entertaining form of propaganda / revenge fantasy. Where was the Al-Qaeda super villains? Imagine how cool it could have been to have Not-Batman fight the terrorist version of Captain Nazi.

>it's a justice fantasy.
That explains the part where the fixer arrests all the terrorists and subjects them to due process.

Yeah, you can tell by the way it was marketed as a jumping on point for new readers. Epic troll.
