Perfectly reasonable. Starfleet people have always been way into old cultural shit. Picard has his film noir mysteries, Paris has his Not Flash Gordon. Bashir had is Not James Bond. Honestly, it would be weird if one of them WEREN'T into something really anachronistic.

What a waste of great costume designs

I finally watched Picard and I have no fucking clue why people even tolerated it.
It was pretty mediocre from the start but the twists near the end are so incredibly stupid and damaging to the series as a whole.

It was written by woke female writers designed to take a giant shit on the series.

It's worked by the asshole who wrote Batman and Robin, that is clearly the bigger issue.

Obviously it's going to be that her mother is the captain, thus she is pressured to be in star fleet but also spoils her and keeps her in star fleet despite her behavior.

I actually REALLY like the idea of a "Lower Decks" themed episode with jr officers & enlistees taking the front stage while the bridge crew takes a back seat as mentors & supporting cast. Heck, I am even behind the idea of a more lighthearted, comedic Star Trek, as long as it's not TOO silly.

But not this Rick & Morty/Family Guy clone garbage.

There has always been nepotism in Starfleet. How often did Data, Worf & other senior officers get away with things that other Starfleet officers would be court martialed, discharged or even imprisoned for?

If your taste includes incompetent storytelling, blatantly ripped off plot points, and the complete misuse of an established setting, then yes, tastes differ.

I like that the Science blue uniforms are actually blue, again, & not teal. Don't get me wrong, teal is one of my favorite colors, but it triggered me how they keep insisting that it is blue.

Personally, I would like Studio MIR, but that's probably way out of budget. Hey, at least with an animated show, we will actually get good fight & space battle scenes.
