The eternal debate

It's not a debate, Darkseid wins.

Gonna go Darkseid, if he’s feeling it

Society.

Not even his own comics let Thanos win at the end of the day

Still the most kino Death Battle video made to this point. I don't doubt if it will remain so forever.

It was alright, I heard Beerus is getting a fight so maybe

Easy win for Thanos.

both boring as shit

Darkseid is cooler

Darkseid still works at McDonalds while Thanos is the boytoy of a sugarmomma.

I thought they broke up again

Beerus hasn't had a good fight in his entire existence so I'm not really holding my breath on that one.

Based Darkseid finding gainful employment in this tough economy while Thanos is out doing his galactic CHAZ eco hippie bullshit

Darkseid jobs

I take Darkseid to be the DC equivalent of a Skyfather/Hell Lord. And Thanos is always slightly less powerful than those.

Thanos usually gets wanked while Darkseid usually gets jobbed. Should be an easy win for Thanos.

TJ vs Balrog is still the best actual fight animation they've ever done.

In combat or rap battle? Combat its darkseid but rap battle?

That's not a debate.

Thanos is an Eternal, Darkseid is not.

I thought he was a Deviant

...I guess they are right: Nothing ever ends.
Alan Moore was Rebecca Sugar before Rebecca Sugar was even born.

He should really be one tier higher than that.
The gods of the mortal realms - Zeus, Odin, that level - were born when the Godwave washed over their worlds. And the Godwave was just the energy wave released when the archetypal godworld Urgrund exploded; Apokalips and New Genesis are made of the pure, raw godstuff.

Eternals are New Gods clones, both were mortals that evolved into a "God-like" state through the influence of cosmic powers.

Also both races were created by Jack Kirby.

Other than having Omega Beams Kirby's Darkseid was pretty weak. While Starlin's Thanos was strong as fuck and can beat almost anyone

In modern times Darkseid is omega chad in multiverse scale and Thanos is just strong alien that sometimes can be smart

Thanos 10/ 10 when it comes to that. He's always been more street smart than Darkseid.

He is not. Thanos is the son of Alars (Mentor) of Titan, formerly of Earth, the brother of Zuras, and Sui-San, a descendant of either Uranos or one of this companions (but there were only a dozen or so of them so she probably is descended from all of them). Uranos was Alars' uncle. They were all Eternals.

Thanos does suffer from Deviant SYNDROME, which makes him ugly and possibly more powerful than his family. I suppose it is the counterpart of whatever caused Ransak the Reject - a Deviant - to be beautiful.

I theorize that Darkseid and the other New Gods are like fourdimensional (Fourth World) jewels, each facet of which manifests as a complete being in the threedimensional world of the DC multiverse. Kirby's Darkseid, then, was the 'facet' associated with pre-Crisis Earth-1, just like Johns' version was the 'facet' seen in the post-Flashpoint Prime Earth. The difference does not stem from the "essential" Darkseid changing, but the universe he is perceived in.

The discrepancy cannot be directly perceived by mortals from the threedimensional reality and instead manifests, when it does, by the Fourth World deities looking gigantic in their own realm.

Three dimensions: what seems to be
Four dimensions: what truly is, the Platonic reality of which our perception can only see shadows
Five dimensions (The land of Zrrrrf, the world of imagination): all that might be

Of course we can "thank" Scott Snyder for adding the sixth dimension where the creator of the multiverse and her three sons reside.

Darkseid has a better hype man

Thanos.

/thread

Is one a ripoff of the other?

They’ve mentioned infinite dimensions before

dkeks are just that salty

>In modern times Darkseid is omega chad in multiverse scale
Modern Darkseid is still a chump. He recently shit his pants and decided to flee and hide in his own corner of the universe in order to avoid Perpetua.

Thanos's gimmick is that he hates himself so much that he always leaves openings for his plans to fail.
Darksied's more straight-faced and made to be overtly powerful and threatening and still gets clowned on because it's a comic book and the good guys have to win.

Creator Jim Starlin had this to say – “Kirby had done the New Gods, which I thought was terrific. He was over at DC at the time. I came up with some things that were inspired by that. You’d think that Thanos was inspired by Darkseid, but that was not the case when I showed up. In my first Thanos drawings, if he looked like anybody, it was Metron. I had all these different gods and things I wanted to do, which became Thanos and the Titans. Roy took one look at the guy in the Metron-like chair and said: ‘Beef him up! If you’re going to steal one of the New Gods, at least rip off Darkseid, the really good one!’”

To be fair his multiversal form is still shattered.

Thanos would do the same so whatever

I think it came back
