What are your honest thoughts on the increase of diversity in cartoons? Is it a good thing or a bad thing? What will be the next milestone to reach?

I can’t tell if his is race bend Beauty and the Beast or someone is shipping Beast and Tiana

Who cares as long as the animation and story itself doesn't suck

Heh. “The demon groom” is a common african folklore motif meant to teach young girls not to be too picky or select a stranger just because he’s hot.

i think it's stupid and pointless for it to exist for the sake of it but i know there are people who it actually matters to (haven't a clue why) so as long as they aren't butchering a preexisting property i don't see a problem with it

It's great, there's absolutely nothing wrong with diversity and more representation is nice as long as it's done organically.
It's not a replacement for characterization and it shouldn't be an actual reflection of the quality of the series. Also Tokenism and most instances of racelifting fucking suck.

If it means we can get artwork of Tiana taking the werewolf knot then I'm for this 100%.

Oh, and it's technically a white male/black female relationship. Nice to see Disney being progressive for once.

How can incorporating diversity be a "bad" thing?

Diversity in design is fine, its when the writers use the diversity to peddle their destructive wold-views when it gets stupid.

If it's so good, why haven't it been done in a serious manner up until now? We got 80+ years of non-diversive cartoons under our belt.

Beast and the Beast doesn't really work

Which one is The Beast?

I really dont think you guys realize how detrimental it is to be a person of color,,especially a child, and have everyone that is portrayed in a positive light be the good guys, the pretty ones, and anytime the story needs someone to be a villain or a mugger, they are black or Latino, etc.

Shit like that leads to self hatred.

I feel like every culture needs to be celebrated, it shouldn't be a discussion or "honest thoughts". But what >115653234 is also true. The stories need to actually be good.

Honestly, diversity helps people identify with characters easily it's a good thing seeing as the world keeps moving forward,in the end we all want a future where jack asses can't prop up their stupid projects just because some minority is the protagonist and the only humane way to do that is normalize differences.

Kinda pandering and lazy. Also fuck black people. Not my problem you apes need constant validation for your inferiority complex.

Are you joking or are you just retarded and unselfawre?

>Why dont diverse characters have more under their belt than white characters
Probably cuz they've hade more time to build a legacy.

In foreign media this shit is reversed. Why do white people have to take responsibility for black peoples emotional instabilities? Make your own cartoons instead of crying and kicking for us to appeal to you.

By diverse you mean nothing but black assholes shoved down our throats constantly. No Latino,Native American,Asian or Pacific islanders. Just more rape apes.

Making your own cartoons and comics takes actual work.

It's fine if it doesn't feel forced. It feels forced whenever they take a previously white character and make them a PoC for no reason other than muh diversity.

I'm all for having more non-white characters in media, but they should be given new stories that they can call their own.

Wrong, diverse can mean a difference in character design.
They way you are using the word implies it's only used to mean racial diversity or sexual diversity.
Throwing sexuality into a cartoon not about it(romance) in general is shit, and yes that mean those shoehorned straight couples in action movies.

The Mikey Mouse crew hold diverse character designs and personalities, Betty Boop is very different from Olive Oil from Popeye.
For interracial couples see Betty and Bimbo, a human and a dog.
For actual black characters see So White.

Diversity in art has always existed, you just changed the definition so you could bitch about the lack of your racial flavor-of-the-week in art.

For black contemporary characters See
>Franklin from Peanuts
>Vince from Recess
>the entire Proud Family cast
>The boondocks cast
>The PJs (that stop motion cartoon in case I misspelled it)
>Lip chick from Owl House (unless she's hispanic or something, Ive not seen it)
>Gay cop from Gravity Falls

Black lies matter

They have! They just refuse to acknowledge that their own people are too lazy to make art to pander to them in 2020.

Theme song of the BLM movement:

I don't fuck a shit.

Why do white people always think that shit always concerns them looool

no one is asking for white folks in particular to make diverse cartoons you fucking idiot lmao

all that people are saying is that a case of princesses that all look like ctrl +c + v can get tiring.
