Why is it so difficult for modern content creators and corporations to make actual, decent, well-written, gay characters?

Why does it seem like there's an air of antagonism when characters like Iceman are made gay? Especially when the chief motif is not gay rights, but cultural brownie and legacy points for a selfish person?

Why are there virtually no good lesbian characters in media?

Cause people who actually know how to write either can't get in or don't want to go into comics/animation. You get shit wages you'll just attract shit talent. The only people vying for this are usually rich or trust fund kids that can afford to go with the low wages and most of em lack life experience. I mean actually talking and getting to know people without it being through a fuckin computer screen.

There always seems to be an air of pettiness, shallowness, and dishonesty around many queer characters as of late.

Why are so many, especially those within the queer/progressive movement, incapable of understanding or appreciating actual gay characters?

That's how it comes off to me as well. I didnt like Steven Universe all that much, but at least you can appreciate the honesty and development that comes with a character(s) like Garnet/Ruby and Sapphire.

It seems like there's people in the industry now, more than ever, who aren't interested in actually crafting LGBT characters, so much as forcing LGBT as an ideology/agenda. It's Ironically detrimental to their cause, when all you really have to do is not be shitty and antagonistic about including LGBT characters.

It's so annoying , Gays are only written as gross whores and lesbians a cheaters. I swear If I have to sit thought one more gay cheater story

One thing ive noticed is that most of the endearing LGBT characters I know of come from comedy shows. I think humor is one of the best vehicles out there for any given movement or cause, and it seems like it shows with gay characters.

Yeah, it's weird how lesbians are often written like that. Like they've gotta be some antagonistic, masculine. "lesbro" type, or that lesbian romances have to include women converting women and getting them to leave their boyfriends/husbands, or have to include men getting shit on somehow.

I really can't think of any female LGBT characters besides Pam and Garnet that arent that way.

I think it has to do with a generation obsessed with being remembered for something. You see alot of kids shows pulling out the LGBTQ stuff when it's near the end, acting as their carving into history and a protective shield from criticism. Another issue is some of these people aren't truly making a show for the audience but for their inner circle.

she-ra and the princesses of power doesn't have any cheaters

because the CEOs at the time of many of these companies WANT a culture war. they don't actually care about what's well written. we're talking about comics and cartoons. if the CEOs cared about good writing, Zig Forums would be an entirely different board.

the ruling class WANTS infighting amongst the working class. never forget that trump is friends with perlmutter and the podesta leaks showed that the disney corporation was willing to bend over backwards to elect hillary clinton.

they want us divided. they want an alt-right to be bigoted against gays, they want liberal capitalists to be more interested in identity politics than class consciousness

Yeah, a lot (if not the majority of) comic LGBT/diverse characters especially reek of "I'm gay/being made gay for my writer's legacy/image."

You probably dont want dishonest white guys being in charge of your representation. Of course, you also want someone who's capable of writing, and not just penning an LGBT character's stories because theyre LGBT themselves (like pretentious, angry, Lesbo America for example"

You are a homophobe, OP. We get it. Let me just say on behalf of my male gay friends in the LGBTQ+ community that not every one of us give each other blowjobs. All of my 25 gay friends think fellatio is disgusting. You know what? You can continue and be a bitter, foul homophobic person but I want you to know that this negativity will just make others hate you and will shorten your lifespan.

Because it is all so calculating and fake. They are trying to appeal to everyone in order to make sure they get the big bucks but not be too gay to alienate others and lose said big bucks.

It just pisses everyone off.

Usually you see good gay characters in shit like Mission Hill because huge profits to the shareholders was not the goal of the creators of that show or in the case of SP, Matt and Trey don't give a shit what Comedy Central wants.

Gus and Wally were written like a couple. An old married couple, and that was that in terms of the relationship.
Sure, they were gay, they didn't hide that, and that made Kevin nervous, but that's how you write a gay couple: as a couple.

Damn, that show was too good!

Bendis is infamous for that shit. It's cause it appeals to both sides. The progressives who go YAY WE DID IT and those against who 'ironically' buy/watch to shit on it. The worst part is HOW MUCH IT FUCKING WORKS everyone keeps falling for it each time. As this stated it's just them putting everyone against eachother cause they've successfully dumbed people down to the barest form of tribal mentalities. It's just sad to me how alot of this could be overcome if we weren't so addicted to our rage cause of social media.

OP didn't say anything to hint and being homophobic, user. there are clear examples of gay characters being shoehorned in at the last second. it's actually disrespectful to the LGBTQ community to shove in korrasami at the last second with absolutely no context beforehand. same goes for iceman

Unironically, Tweek and Craig, shit, even Big Gay Al is better lgbt representation than the lesbian rock show and legend of korra.

IDW Transformers had a ton of gay characters, and even a few trans ones. They were all written fine, with the exception of one character because the author has a perpetual bug up his ass about girl robots.

>Le homophobic, "we", my 24 gay friends!

Good bait, user.

Maybe one day you'll realize being fake, disingenuous, and petty is ultimately what's bad for your health.

Attached: AreJuAPolice.jpg (480x360, 12.56K)

(when I say gay I'm also including lesbians, btw)

Meh, IDW is part of the problem in a lot of ways too. They do some things right, and a lot of other things wrong.

They did one thing wrong, and then bent over backwards to fix it.

>she-ra and the princesses of power doesn't have any cheaters

Yeah, but making She-ra queer is fundamentally dishonest. It ruins the girl power legacy by changing her like that. There's no good reason she couldnt have included LGBT characters (which she did), but making Adora and Catra gay was negative design choice.

Noelle Stevenson's not a bad writer, but she's part of the "antagonistic" and "agenda" problem in all this. You cant create good gay characters when your intent is coming from a dark and hateful place.

> It ruins the girl power legacy by changing her like that.
... How?

you are fucking retarded

IDW1 Transformers had 2 married lesbian couples, and two not-married ones, and none of them had what you describe.

IDW2 has a lesbian couple that are raising a robokid together.

Because it's all about getting those Brownie points.
Good writing?
Effort?
Nah, fuck that.
We'll just make an established character black, gay, transgender.

This.
Good writing takes time and money, which they have none of.

It's an improvement, but them being transformers kinda negates the whole thing for me. I can't take any kind of romance between Transformers seriously.

Why not? They're sapient beings with actual souls. Why can't they form close relationships with specific people? Why can't they fuck and get wasted at titty bars?

Attached: scout patrol.png (1366x1546, 2.13M)

Love =/= sexual attraction

Yes that's all true, and ultimately romance is canon and fine and normal between transformers.

I still can't take it seriously because for me transformers will always be about toys and robots turning into cars and lasers before anything else. Plus I havent been invested in Transformers since Beast Wars.
