What if the reason Jerry is a pathetic parasite is because when Beth first met him he was actually a competent, affectionate man who could provide Beth what she needed and love.
So Rick felt threatened and basically invented something that emotionally, physically, and mentally stunted him while wiping everyone's memory so that he would never be in danger of losing his daughter. But then Jerry's new retard genes messed up Morty.
That's why he hates Jerry; Jerry is a reminder of his own pettiness and a mistake he never should of made that also hurt Morty, making him feel responsible for his own selfishness.
This has some validity because in the first interdemensional cable, we see a reality where they never married and Jerry, while egoist, was competent enough to make his own movies.

No. Morty is perfect. His brain waves mask Rick's and serve as a cloaking device keeping him safe from his many enemies per that first episode with Evil Morty at the end. He was able to make the family dog a superhuman genius so clearly he could make Morty one if he actually wanted to. Also it was already repeatedly explained that Jerry and Beth have a codependent relationship where Beth keeps Jerry weak emotionally crippled.
Jace Murphy
So Jerry's ineptitude and infantile state is from Beth's abuse? Is she one of those "mommy" women who need a pathetic dependent in order to validate their superiority or feel like they're taking care of someone?
Should I just say what the guy named "Rick" who can view other dimensions to find, uh, shall we say fragments of what he wants might draw comparison to?
Or are you guys "uncertain" about what I mean. Did you listen to that one ICP song?
Jose Myers
That's not a good point. There's nothing good about that point. No way.
Sure, but Jerry is a spineless parasite, so it evens out.
sort of.
Liam Cooper
I think Rick is 100% projecting ALL of his own shit onto Jerry, quite frankly.
He fucked up and fucked up HUGE by running away and not being there to stop Beth from getting knocked up when she was super young. That's the sort of shit that immediately damns you to the hall of shame parenting-wise and gets you named "Worst father ever".
So Rick has constructed a huge fucking head canon that Jerry manipulated Beth into impregnating her and keeping the baby. Rick can't fucking tolerate the thought that he fucked Beth up to the point of having sex with someone like Jerry, that he has to create a fake version of Jerry onto the real Jerry to compensate for his shit parenting and make him feel superior and blame him failing his daughter, by positioning Jerry as a conniving master manipulator who tricked Beth into early motherhood/marriage.
i guess. you're probably putting more thought intothis than the creators
Gabriel King
It's been suggested in the past that Jerry was once a guy who was going places and that him marrying Beth derailed him. He settled on being a dad and husband and most likely took a shit job to pay for Beth to go to college and become a horse surgeon.

Do people seriously think jerry is a parasite just because rick said so? because rick is smart that means hes not a massive egotistical narcissist with a god complex who manipulates people by saying whatever works to get his way? hurr durr it sounds kinda right so I believe it. a lot of things can be looked at in a lot of different ways. you really shouldn't take his word as gospel unless you're literally unable to think for yourself. it's really ironic how not rick like the biggest rick fans are.
David Price
>Or are you guys "uncertain" about what I mean. Did you listen to that one ICP song? I've listened to and forgotten their entire discography. Except for I'm Going Home, that one stuck around for some reason.
Oliver Morales
No OP, Jerry is just a pathetic and mediocre human, but despite this he's able to find love and worth in the most insignificant things while Rick just can't despite his omnipotence.
Jerry is a reminder that even retard can't find love and happines while he dosen't
Levi Peterson
hot damn, that pic. following all the steps in it doesn't seem like it would make anyone happy
Jace Nelson
Jerry actually does try from time to time but he's just really sucky at it and his kids are spoiled by the excitement they get from Rick and modern life. A lot of time's Jerry's solutions (Going camping) are what you'd expect from a sitcom dad in the 60s or 70s or some shit. He's kind of out of touch.
Hate is easier to write than love. That's all you really need to know. It's laziness and/or lack of talent. Why would they bother justifying his poor decisions as the result of his trying to do the right thing through the lens of his own character flaws when they can just make him an awful person that does everything wrong?
