This was a pretty good era for CN.

Courage didn't necessarily flop. The show had 52 episodes, which is a good amount of episodes and if you can believe it, the show still aired half hour reruns on and off until November 2013. If you count Cartoon Planet though, it was on until 2014. The show even returned for a week in August 2015 and has the entire series on DVD

It's also on the Boomerang App, which most people don't seem to have

Dilworth must have a good relationship with CN

Nothing went wrong. It didn’t need a movie or a bunch more episodes or merch. It was great and stayed consistent. That’s more than I can ask for in a show.

This, just because Courage had a short production run didn't mean it wasn't successful as it saw plenty of success in sydication.

Quantity does not equal quality. Also it had the same amout of episodes as Samurai Jack's original run, with the added bonus that many were double episodes.

Samurai Jack has toys and video games

Merchandise based on a product doesn't truly reflect the quality of said product. Samurai Jack isn't good because it sold plastic toys, it's good because of it's own merits as a series.
In the same way Courage isn't bad because it didn't sell toys. This is the retarded mentality of suits that are just looking for profit reading the supergirl/batgirl teamup episode script and going "yeah but where's robin?"

Ed Edd n Eddy had practically no toys but was a massive success for the network, what's you point? It had a couple of video games but infamously had next to no merchandise.
