Blue because the whole point of Nightwing was he was influenced by both Batman and Superman growing up
He sees himself more as a responsible citizen like Superman than a dark protector like Batman, and I've always felt the more SICK and dark you make him look, the more that's lost.
It's hard to tell by McDaniel's covers for the Nightwing solo where he's always looking pretty serious. But inside the book he's usually a lot more lighthearted, at least until Year One ruined everything

The red one has a sort of Robin symbol on it, he isn't Robin anymore and that's the point.
The red one has those superfluous leather straps. Those suck visually, but more to the point, the blue costume has utility pouches on the wrists and ankles instead of a single belt, they are meant to be accessed while tumbling or apinning through the air since he is an acrobat.
Lastly, the red one is Nu52 bullshit, which is by default terrible.

Red feels too vampiric for Dick. Too reminiscent of the Batman Beyond suit as well. The Nightwing persona was Dick's independence from Batman and the Robin mantle. Forcing red back on him just to fit in better with the other Robins feels wrong and a bit of a step backward.
