tldr: >Dan Harmon will be creating an adult animated series for Fox, set to air Spring 2022. Notably, this is the first animated series that will be owned entirely by Fox Entertainment, the non-Disney production company formed in 2019. Bento Box will animate.
Will it be yet another spigot for Harmon to vent his personality issues from?
Matthew Moore
A third Rick and Morty, huh.
Luke Myers
Great. More Dan writing.
Caleb Foster
I still can't believe that Adult Swim ordered 70 fucking episodes.
Ryder Adams
>Harmon will create and develop a comedy series targeted to premiere on the network in spring 2022 >spring 2022
I'm more eager to hear how Harmon delivers a product on time especially when the animators are Bento Box who apparently work 40 hours a day
Carter Wilson
But I thought they were renamed 20th Century?
Hunter Cox
>it'll be a family-based sitcom >bumbling and incompetent dad >badass hyper-competent mom >naive son that will the receptacle for the moral of the week >a sister or some shit I dunno maybe a talking animal >self insert godmode character that might be I dunno a talking animal or some shit >marriage problems, self depreciation, cuck fantasy acceptance, short haired women in tank tops, pop science I can name 3 references to a movie that came out 30 years ago piss fetish
Jason Nguyen
>tfw you will never have networks begging for you to create shows for them
Christian Allen
How to write like Dan Harmon
>Show has at least one extremely loud character >Show has at least one principal character that is wacky or eccentric >Wacky or eccentric character is actually super depressed >Audience should feel bad for laughing at wacky or eccentric character after a few episodes >Show has at least one ridiculous character that normalizes wacky or eccentric character >Normal characters get caught up in shenanigans >They have normal people reactions >Comedy
Jace Gutierrez
please just harmon and his team justi roiland always fucks everything up
Juan Ross
I thought Harmon was the hack of the pair but after Solar Opposites I'm not sure. Maybe this will be good.
Isaac Baker
Doesn't sound like community to me
Gavin Moore
Anons you didn't hear about this in April? He's got Danny Devito on board and they're pretty much making a genderswapped Satina
Carson Morris
Haven't seen solar opposites. What's bad about it?
Cooper Butler
>How to write like Dan Harmon
Here's how >step 1 watch this >step 2 copy this >step 3 make jokes >step 4 ??????? >step 5 create podcast to act as sounding board >step 6 get married >step 7 become literally and metaphorically drunk on your own supply >step 8 ????? >step 9 take in a bearded man from the salt flats as your protege/assistant/GM >step 10 have crisis and realize you don't know what step 10 is >step 11 call out chris hardwick for being a dick >step 12 keep thinking about step 10
and repeat
Carter Allen
They’re both hacks.
Tyler Martinez
When you look at his stuff before Community and afterwards it always felt like a weird accident that he was allowed to make a mainstream NBC sitcom, and it’s kind of bizarre that he’s going down that road again especially when Netflix or HBO or Hulu or whatever would probably pick it up in a heartbeat and that he’ll have to deal with broadcast restrictions (especially when Fox has historically been ultra-rigid in their requirements in terms of the structure and genre of its animated shows). I just hope it isn’t designed by Roiland for no reason other than brand recognition, like what they’re doing with The Great North which looks exactly like Bob’s Burgers despite not being created by Bouchard
Tyler Butler
OK I looked it up. This company: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fox_Entertainment Has no affiliation with the FOX that was sold to Disney. It is a replacement studio owned by Murdoch, who still retains the FOX trademark. It does not retain any old shows or movies.
This company on the other hand: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/20th_Century_Studios Is indeed the old FOX, it has all the old shows and movies but it can't use the old name for trademark reasons.
Dan Harmon's show is being made for the new company, it is not a Disney production.
Caleb Harris
of course it is. roiland already fucked off to make his ripoff (solar opposite), season 4 was shit out unwillingly by harmon and half the episodes of season 4 where the writers whining about its own fanbase.
you act as if all art isn't just venting your personal issues
John Perry
>I thought Harmon was the hack of the pair Why, because you don't like him? Harmon's a good writer, for all his faults. Roliand is the pee pee poo poo man tier writer.
Charles Bennett
This will probably forever be confusing for people, especially when in various ways they’re still heavily intermingled, with Fox now having to pay Disney to produce their currently running shows that have been on since before the buyout. Disney even owns Bob’s Burgers and is a middleman in its production despite that the studio that makes it (Bento Box) is owned by Fox.
Angel Lee
try and get through the first 8 minutes
Kevin Taylor
So Harmon and Roiland are now obviously tired of Rick and Morty.
Jacob Richardson
Raced to zombie status in record time. What a dubious distinction.
Chase Hall
>Justin works on his show >Dan works on his show >Rick and Morty cancelled
Aiden Rivera
>jeff winger and rick sanchez are harmon's perceived image Wow what a pretentious douche
