I have filled up a 2tb hard drive full of comics. I have achieved nirvana. I have transcended past /shelf/ly desires

Chinky Flu has completely messed up deliveries, so I'm still waiting on some Zig Forums stuff I ordered upwards of a month ago. Have received some neat things in the meantime, though!

Neat. I just watched Tokyo Godfathers for the first time and really enjoyed myself

Make sure to watch Perfect Blue and Paprika, too!

I've got a few things on the way, but I've got to save some money.

RIP Denny. I've only got the Flash back-ups left in GL/GA, and it's been a great ride.
Daytripper was cheap and I've heard enough praise to buy it mostly blind.
First volume of Buddha was really good. I'm excited to get the rest of it when I have the chance.
I forget where I saw Elmer. I vaguely remember being excited for it.
I probably won't read Nick Fury until I have the Kirby/Steranko omni. I was going to get it last weekend before I decided to honor O'Neil with GL/GA, and this was sort of a replacement.
Reptilia is a really good old horror manga. I wasn't expecting too much, but it kept me in suspense.
Deitch's Pictorama is covered in glue from library stickers that's taking me forever to get off.

That's a lotta Dredd.

My girlfriend is fairly difficult to shop for. Will she like the comic of Lucifer if she’s into the show?

Is she a comic reader? If not, you always lead with Scott Pilgrim my dude

Love daytripper though it’s been years since I read it.

What is this Buddha?

Absolutely not, they are glaringly different. They only the thing they share is names of characters.

I honestly just snatched a photo from the previous threads and yeah, it’s a lot of 2000AD. I don’t even know how much money the guy spent on that shelf.
t. OP

>I don’t even know how much money the guy spent on that shelf.
Looks like about 8000

>Looks like about 8000
If that’s the case than damn, he has to be bloody rich to afford such a library. Plus I just started building my own shelf and it looks like baby’s first bookcase in comparison to the OP pic.

You have to consider how long someone has been into the hobby for. If you spent 1k a year on comics, that's only 8 years in the game. You also have to consider what someone's disposable income looks like. No mortgage or children? You got a lot of money lying around.

If you like Buddha I recommend most of Tezuka's work that Vertical has brought over. If only they could get the license to Phoenix...

There’s a shit ton of floppy stuff I got in the mail but I’m too lazy to assemble it. So here’s stuff I got last week at one of my LCSs. They were having a 40% off DC sale because they’re pissy about the whole Diamond departure thing, so now they’re cleaning out their inventory making all DC books by order only. Snagged Flash Year One and Harley Loves Joker. Oh and I got this Punchline variant of Batman 92 because it looked neat and I heard they were limited prints

I bought a near complete run of Claremont's Gen13 off ebay. People say his run is trash and I'm ready for that. If I get 17 issues of Claremont dirty-old-manning then it will have all been worth it.

Are you outside the U.S.?

>that cover

>I've heard enough praise
I didn't think it was that great.

Nice sandman books

If you paid less than $50 for that Punchline you should sell it for a nice profit while it's still worth something.

Lucifer is like, as good or better than Sandman. Heavily looking at various mythologies and themes of free will.

The show, from what I've seen, is a bad soap opera drama with police procedural attachments and the occasional random supernatural.

The only thing the show kept from the comic is that the Devil has left Hell and started a piano bar. In the comic the Devil gets a mission from God and asks for something in return leading to spiralling events.

No, why?
Isn't it only worth like 45 bucks? Anyway I don't buy comics for value really. Sure its kind of cool but that's not why I collect. In fact speculator shit has ruined this hobby

Did my biannual google search to see what's going on with The Seeds. Apparently it's finished.
comicsbeat.com/david-aja-the-seeds-completed/

>No, why?
The only LCS's that I can see getting really justifiably angry about DC leaving Diamond are those who are north of the border or across the pond.
At least in Canada, Diamond shipments used to be duty-free, but the new ones are not.
Which makes things much more expensive for LCSs because now they have import fees to deal with.
But since it's the U.S, ???

It's not my main comic shop, and they arguably aren't as good both content and business wise as my usual spot. They were pissed because now that DC has split from Diamond, it costs more to stock DC books for them. This is either because they no longer get a Diamond discount from bulk orders, or DC just making their own prices since Diamond always took like 30% of their profits beforehand.

It's that time again! People over at cbr and collectededitions have phished some unannounced DC products from Penguin Random House.
Remember, none of these have officially been announced or solicited yet, and there's a good chance that some of them will be cancelled*

The thread on the CE forums in up to date , isn't it?

It's selling pretty reliably at $50. But it's a 1:25 that stores had plenty of time to up their orders for, so it's not scarce and selling at more than twice what it's worth on hype. You'll be able to pick up another one for much less in six months.

I got into comics thru a Batman Year One chronology reading order list, and Dark Moon Rising is one of the early ones on that list. Was always a favorite of mine. I'll miss this edition because I have virtually all the included issues in other formats already, but this is a real treat for those of you who haven't been able to collect Dark Moon Rising. Just a good ole Batman romp.

Now, to brass tacks. The Legends of the Dark Knight (sometimes called Tales of the Batman as well. Odd line of books.) series of hardcovers is NOT a typical oversized hardcover. It is simply a regular floppy sized hardcover. They also do not have the best binding considering how high the cover prices and low the page counts for these books tend to be. Why can't DC do something do something as simple as a flexible sewn OHC across all their lines of books? They already have books done this way. Why does the quality of their books oscillate so wildly?

>Superman: The Last Son The Deluxe Edition HC
Retarded product. All you had to do was make Johns Superman Omnibus, and stitch the Secret Origin, Last Son, Brainiac, and Legion of Superheroes trades together. You could even put Up Up and Away if you felt like it. Would have been one of the best Superman CEs ever. Fucking hell DC.

>They already have books done this way. Why does the quality of their books oscillate so wildly?
budget for what they think they can produce vs. how much money is tied up in actually getting it to reprint.
Those Bat collections are really, really specific to generate as much revenue/make the cover price cuts as low as possible for the old creators. It's why a part-2 of a three part story was included in the first Breyfogle one and not the other two parts. He didn't illustrate the other parts.
