Why is Dan Slott so unpopular?

Whenever his name comes up he seems universally reviled on Zig Forums. How come?
I am rather liking his run on 'Iron Man'.

He's a fucking shit writer. Get better taste.

it's the problem of writing Spider-Man that Zig Forums doesn't like. He is a bad writer now and forever

We were all new to comics at some point, user, you'll come around, they always do.

>throughout superior spider-man actively announced he was going to piss everyone off and proceeded to do so
>comes up with good ideas and then executes them horribly
>turned peter into a manchild that everyone hated
>argues online and constantly announced he was blocking people, basically an unlikable version of kamiya
>other works range from mediocre to insulting
He's a writer that fell from grace pretty hard when he realized he could piss people off to sell more comics. It worked but it ended up costing him in the long run. Now nobody likes him and he doesn't have ASM rage to coast on.

You have shit taste

butthurted Spideymarriagefags

He writes corny power rangers shit

>mediocre to insulting
This

The problem is, PR-style corny is kinda-sorta endearing at times. Like a pug. Slott's just an arsehole.

>fell from grace
It's not like his Spider-Man was any good before Superior. I can name only one arc I liked and that's mostly because of Marcos Martin's art.

He never got his own creations. Superior SpOck for example was written so much better from other writers. He created Agent Venom, but Remender made him popular. Red Goblin could've been a great mesh up, but he fumbled everything about it. He brought back Ben, but most rather see him stay dead after robbing everything that was liked about the character. Come Conspiracy could've be dope as fuck, but it only really served as a soft reset to Spidey's villains. He brought back Kaine and I can't think of anything bad about that. And remember that one time a depowered Norman got away from Spidey and Miguel in like 2.2 seconds?

He was better known for his She-Hulk and Mighty Avengers runs. It is interesting how his She-Hulk is now considered not good when it was the opposite several years ago. But everyone loved his Mighty Avengers. And his Arkham miniseries is also popular among anons.

Like a Chihuahua.

Remember that other time he made a big deal about hyping up a 'sane' Norman, only to then write him exactly the same as before, before pairing him with a villain whose entire gimmick is he's a psychopath?

He has a knack for high concept stuff then completely kills it off with terrible characterisation. Characters make illogical choices which he masks with bad, tell-don't-show dialogue and an over reliance on quips and speedy scene cuts to distract you from the mess.

>And remember that one time a depowered Norman got away from Spidey and Miguel in like 2.2 seconds?
Peter gets distracted for a second and Miguel is unaffected. The worst part is how Peter seems to be fine allowing the main villain that just trashed most of New York get away. Like come on, where's the built up hate and anger? Not even going to swing around and try to find him? And this is just after Peter got his body back. He should be fucking pissed at everyone.

On top of being a hack, he actively searches for his own name online just so he can harass or block people who criticize him.

>Miguel's costume being torn when it's made of unstable molecules
It only bothers me because there was a point in his original series where he got the fuck beaten out of him and people thought he was fine precisely because the costume was intact.

because he shits on the audience

His Tony is atrocious. He's a fucking wimpy AI. Who's not even a Stark.

Never read either, but his Spider-Man was completely disappointing. Everything that made JMS' run endearing was gone completely. Peter was flanderized into a complete idiot and a loser, the supporting cast became completely irrelevant, all villains became cackling one-dimensional caricatures, etc.

I have been reading comics since, I want to say 1980?

What does that MEAN?

...That's something.

Still rather like his run on Iron Man. Oh well.

Dude spent the last 10 years running Spiderman into the ground by turning him into discount Batman

(you) have to go back.

>corny power rangers
I think the moment I dropped Slott's Spiderman was when he the shitty new Hobgoblin was ran off by playing Lady Gaga super loud at him

youtube.com/watch?v=lPuurLsS6F4

>JMS was the best writer in a long time INSPITE of shit like Sins Past and OMD
>After we get damn good books like the Entire Gauntlet and Grim Hunt
>None of the better writers get to headline
>Nor do they keep a rotating stock
>They give it to one of the worst writers for a decade
How fucking cheap do you think Slott was willing to work for

Spider-man is an overrated superhero anyways
