Are print comics just gonna be fucked forever or will they recover? My local comicbook store almost dropped DC because distributing independently means two delivery days.
Did DC fuck up by leaving Diamond?
Tell your store to sell meth on the side, problem solved.
It's amazing how bad Stockholm syndrome has set in when you see comic book fans defend Diamond.
legit don't care, I buy my books online anyway
the two delivery days thing means two days sorting inventory and dealing with additional delivery guys, but if your store is getting all of its product (not just comic books) through Diamond just so it can only deal with one delivery guy a week.. that's a failed business, OP
in theory there might be some additional disruption to stores for having to do inventory on two different days, but here's the thing - if the LCS market goes under, the publishers will be able to switch to other retailers who - get this - do inventory every day; there won't be as many titles, and they won't be aimed at the same audiences, but the publishers will survive even if the LCS does not, so a little perspective from some store owners about doing inventory twice a week (when they probably had to do that for their Magic or whatever other deliveries anyway), but not actually having increased *amounts* of inventory to deal with, would be a good thing
it'll pass, the guy in the image is even talking about his local whales (the readers who buy a shitton of comics and basically support the store) being the reason he's staying with DC; but cutting the amount of extra-order to have on the shelf probably benefits the store (because they've already bought those books because the Direct Market is stupid and not like other periodicals retail markets) and the publisher (helps them target regions/audiences better with more desirable products - point of sale data the hard way)
Meh I dislike diamond, but I hate DC even more for gutting vertigo and pushing watered down DC Dark shit. They massacred my boy John Constantine.
Thanks for supporting the industry. I pirate and buy trades.
Direct Market is basically the fucking Titanic in motion
Whether DC jumped off the Titanic only to climb aboard the Hindenburg is a different issue
>They massacred my boy John Constantine.
The current Hellblazer title is better than about half of the Vertigo run.
They didn't almost drop DC they are just complaining to the world in the hopes that kicking and screaming will make DC go back to Diamond
No comic shop owner is "dropping" DC because of MORAL OUTRAGE. They're selling off titles and trades for a quick buck since they're losing money by the second with the quarantine and such. They're just using the opportunity to also pretend like there's a deeper meaning to their "outrage".
With how pozzed the industry has become does it really deserve to survive?
Can't speak for all comic shops but I know my LCS was already using the system DC is now relying on since that's who they used for trades.
It was like a second option for getting DC trades but it seems like it's their only option now but at least they're prepared.
So I assume some comic shops have this setup for DC for about a year now like mine.
So what are these new distributors? Are they actually another tentacle of WB/AT&T? Or are they actual distributors that does work beyond DC?
My store's in Canada and they have absolutely no idea what/when they're getting DC books, it's a complete dice roll. I've started just reading all my stuff on pirate sites, if the books come in, I'll buy them but I'm not getting behind bc DC shit the bed harder than Diamond (literally)
It's Mile High and another major store that does online discount orders, so basically DC is making their American stores buy from another comic store. lol
Diamond was a monopoly, fuck that shit. Things will be better in the long term with more competition, it's how capitalism should work.
Do non-comic bookstores also make a fuss about having to order from different distributors?
western comics only make men hating sjw crap now anyway
only idiots would be willing to pay money for them
No, because they are actual businesses ran by people who aren't fat lazy idiots.
Normal bookstores order from multiple distributors. If you can't match normal bookstores then maybe you have no business selling books.
There are already more print comics sold through book stores and Amazon than the direct market. Print comics are fine. Hell a bunch of LCS are fine, they've been living on TCGs and merch for 2 decades.
no
burn it down to the grown
let manga take over
ruin manga whit hollywood poison
let it burn down
let comics come back strongher than ever
This is the only way forward.
Ever since I got into comic back in 06-07 I have heard about how damaging Diamond is to the industry. Now everyone is protecting Diamond as if they're THE most important thing about the industry. Sickening.
my FLCS makes its money through MTG, Board Games, and Warhammer.
Vertigo hadn't been good in several years
This. Every LCS owner I've ever known has felt entitled to some degree because they sell a niche product.
Awesome I love Batman
They’re terrible but they’re better than nothing, which is basically what DC has set up. It’s like sailing in a shitty boat vs a pasta strainer
lol. it didn't take long for these fags to stop pretending they would drop dc.
Guy sounds like a petty douche, how does it hurt fans exactly and Diamonds Stranglehold of the industry needed to be stopped so this needed to happen
>They massacred my boy John Constantine.
That's cute compare to what they did to my boy Max Lord.
comic bookstores are mad because 1.) they to order from more than one place. 2.) DC shipping is more expensive
you should see what Suicide Squad is doing to Ted Kord
Constantine is the best he's been in like a decade. You're a fake fan.
I wish I could strangle retards like you that have been brainwashed to think it's Diamond's way or the highway.
Faggot Constantine has a great series right now. But you don’t even read it because your “fandom” is from Le epic Instagram pics you saw.
Kek you’re alright Batfag.
