Is "evil Superman" boring at this point? I get that it was interesting and subversive the first time it was done, but that was, what, 40 years ago? Isn't everyone just kind of tired of it by now?

I would like to see more evil Batman stories. But not Nemesis, I never want to see anything like that again.

No. Superfags just want you to buy this narrative, just like how they'll try to convince you normalfags have become sick of Batman.

It's boring if they just leave it at that, but Homelander has a really good actor, and his more unique backstory makes him better than just "Dude, what if Superman bad".

Homelander wasn't a "what if superman was evil?", it was more of a "what happens when you gaslight superman into thinking that he's evil?"

The show threw that out the window

People with taste have become sick of Batman. Normalfags haven't, but since when have normalfags had good taste?

It's old and tired to us but to most normies it's new.
lol, clam down.

Evil Superman could be good if it didn’t just result in the same tired ass Batman vs. Superman shit. That shit is so predictable even normalfags are starting to complain about Batwank.

its sorta tired, but normative audiences tend to enjoy it, considering its new, but I wish they would make a mainstream movie about an evil justice league, earth 3 of course

Yes, its played out and boring as shit.

>The show threw that out the window
What did they do in the show?

It would be nice if we could get actually good Superman movies again before they start putting the "superman but he evil" twist on him.

waiting for the "evil superman but he good" twist

He's crazy from the beginning, there's no slow buildup to it throughout the story like in the comic.

Red Son

Even without the baby eating shit, nigga already has a screwed up moral

>Even without the baby eating shit
user, I
>nigga already has a screwed up moral
He wasn't perfect, but he wasn't a bad person. That's the entire reason why BN goes crazy

it was boring since the first appearance of Ultraman

Lex is good, Superman is fascist.

brightburn
thing in the op
russian superman
dawns justice or whatever that fighting game was called

what else is there?

the whole "bright blonde angel was the bad guy and the brooding dark edgelord was the hero" shtick is just established as the classic role subversion
its just SO easy theres no way talentless writers would let go of it

honestly, nothing is stopping them from pulling the same twist, or do something similar with homelander jr, hell they could make it so homelander jr fills in the role of a good kid corrupted by something outside ofnhis control

The only interesting thing is how you’d defeat an omnipotent superpowered being, not the fact that there’s an evil Superman.

if homelander was left alone to do his own thing he would just be as bad as the other supes, also speaking of the boys

will they have the balls to turn butcher into a villain that kills most of the boys in the show?

>if homelander was left alone to do his own thing he would just be as bad as the other supes
But he didn't, that's the entire fucking point of the twist.
>will they have the balls to turn butcher into a villain that kills most of the boys in the show?
If they do it'll come out of left field, he's been shown as a guy that's completely winging it.

He was a bad guy trying to do good, I'd say that counts

lets be real user, homelander was surrounded by hedonists and awful people, maybe he would have been a good guy at the beggining but at most he will turn into a maeve, trying his hardest to not care about everyone else being fucked up

they kind of set up Billy doing his thing with the baby supe and still detonating the bomb, possibly killing Stillwater's kid, but I also think the revelation with his wife really torpedos his motivation. Next season better be something good, or else it'd fall very, very flat.

>the show reveals Butcher's wife is still alive and made absolutely no effort to contact him or her family in the time since she disappeared
>The new Boys comic has Butcher's diary somehow sent to Hughie and chronicles their relationship, and what it meant to him after she died
what did Ennis mean by this?

Broadly speaking? Yes. But it's been done poorly so often that doing it well is still a pretty welcome change of pace. The problem is most garbage writers get as far as contriving some stupid reason for him to "be evil" the first time and then just coast on their usual repertoire of tired genre cliches. Nothing about what makes an evil superman evil is ever given lasting/persisting logical consequences on the story or plot they're in.

it's a big fuck you for fucking with shit

It’s a troop that needs to fucking die at this point making a Superman story where he’s actually a good kind strong person despite having ability to kill everyone would be much more “subversive” then another Superman story where he snaps and takes over the world.

>the show reveals
The corporation kept her and the child hidden out of fear of how it would affect Homelander. She’s pretty much a prisoner of them at that point

superman if he real

Superman being good has been boring since the 30s
