The idea of a alcoholic demonic veteran mentoring or being friendly with a enthusiastic and pacifist child is such a comfy idea on it’s own, that it can genuinely be heartwarming. Plus unlike most crossovers, both IPs tend to explore mythology and paganism throughout their respective stories, especially when it comes to Nordic and British mythology.
