Thoughts on him?
Dave Filoni
Nails the classic Star Wars aesthetic, and has alot of potential to lead the franchise. But my god, he dick-rides Asohka to absolute ends of the universe.
nice hat
Dave Filoni is great but his obsession with wolves and Ahsoka is pretty cringe.
Mediocre writer and director whose reputation gets overblown due to the fact that the current stakes for new Star Wars content are extremely low.
Nobody expects Star Wars to be a masterpiece again, they just want it to be "okay".
this, he's a fan, sure but he shares the same flaws as other fans.
I like him. He'll probably never reach the depths that George possesses, but he's shown his competence and has consistently delivered on good content that's under his creative direction.
I think he’s better than about 80% of Lucasfilm, but the dudes a hack. He stole a lot of stories from the old EU when he was writing Clone Wars episodes and “re-wrote” them with some Lucas input.
Hope
>I think he’s better than about 80% of Lucasfilm, but the dudes a hack
this
He's a hack but people seem to love his shitty furry waifu cartoons
Complete hack that coasts on memberberries and waifu shit. Never had an actual original piece of work yet. Being a hardcore fanboy with tons of knowledge doesn't make you talented. It honestly enraged me to no end that people like his shitty series.
seethe harder
What is this implying? boba fett isn't real. why would he care if he was.
Hack fraud. Rebels was shit and he fucked with the original scripts for the final season of TCW to the dettriment of the season.
Good with tard wranglers but he's been unleashed for awhile now and it shows, unfortunately.
He wrote the second best star wars media ever concieved though so credit where it's due.
He didn't write any of the KOTOR games, what are you on about?
Kotor is number 1. Specifically Kotor 2. TCW is next best. Then the Lucas Films. Then other garbage. Then all the fan wank novels. Then all the other game wank games. Then the fan wank comics then several other hordes of fan wank. Then a massive power gap then Disney's attempt
TCW is significantly further down that list. It doesn't even come close to Genndy Wars, let alone other classic and beloved pieces of star wars media
It's better than Genndy wars if we're valuing both by the entirety of their runs. Sorry fag. It's also better than if not the original films than they prequels.
It's hard to fuck with long form content like a multi-season show.
>Complete hack that coasts on memberberries and waifu shit. Never had an actual original piece of work yet. Being a hardcore fanboy with tons of knowledge doesn't make you talented.
I thought you were talking about JJ for a second
Jj doesn't coast on anything. He crashed the plane with no survivors. He's not a fanboy either.
>inb4 muh Rian destroyed everything
If you liked TFA you don't deserve to breath the same air as me.
What exactly is so likable about it? The way they turned Dooku and Grievous into a moustache-twirling villain and a jobber who runs away respectively? The annoying shoehorned apprentice? The bad impersonations of actors from the movies? Maul coming back again and again, sometimes as a fucking robot centipede, obsessed with Kenobi for no real reason? Perhaps his brother, Savage Oppress? Is that on the nose enough for you? Oh, perhaps you're really into all the clone shit, which was handled far better in the campaign for battlefront 2 (2005). Anakin meets a group of Gods which are embodiments of the dark and light sides of the force, maybe that's something you like? Order 66's significance being reduced to the clones all having mind control chips?
Seriously, what the fuck is the appeal? Is it literally just coomers who like orange buttcheeks?
Ahsoka isnt wearing a tubetop anymore.Whats even the appeal? I don't get it.
She's not an interesting character. She had some amusing value she was jedi jailbait but now what?
At first I felt mostly indifferent towards him, but now I have come to the conclusion he's just another hack.
His stories lack of ambition and are flawed on a fundamental level, contrary to what happened with George, where it was the execution what betrayed him.
Filoni is also seemingly unable to come up with compelling characters on his own, but it's not like he is capable of handling already established characters either. His treatment over figures like Dooku, Grievous and Asajj is comparable to that of the sequels over the OT protagonists, but he gets a pass because 80% of his audience is unaware of their former itterations. Even the additions TCW proposed for the protagonists eventually led to nothing of relevance or even contributed to their own detriment, all of this at the cost of directly contradicting the movies, both in terms of narrative and themes (Maul's survival, Ahsoka, Satine, the Nightsisters, Order 66...)
If one found the Jedi in the prequels to be unlikable and often too Gary Stu-ish, oh boy, TCW is ten times worse.
Thanks for the memes and the cute fan art, I guess, but Star Wars will only ever be good again once the collective of fans and creators alike come to the conclusion that Filoni's input in the franchise neither was good enough nor necessary.
Some flaws, but overall he's a force of good in Lucasfilm
There's more room for investment in a longform story. Ashoka, Ani and Obi are at their best in this material - it's a fact. TCW also retro-actively breathes life into the prequel films despite adding in some continuity issues at the same time.
Getting to know the clones and seeming them at war was also an enjoable way to experience the star wars setting. The show took advantage of the exposure characters would be getting over time and really slow burned their development. It feels natural coming to care about particular clones.
There were a lot of fuck ups in TCW as well but the bulk of it is either good or excellent. It balances out to a very worthwhile expierience for "Star Wars" which is generally not all that substantial, selling you on the idea of a story or a setting instead of actually taking you through it
Kotor deep dives unabashadely as well but does so with more finese which is why 1 and to a greater extent 2 are the strongest pieces in the frachise. We agree on that at least.
If nothing else Clone Wars is able to become immersive without becoming oppresive like other fanservice books and media. There's a fine line of weaving a world into a story and spamming lore for the sake of it. Often things that do the latter get tied into extremely convoluted and pathetic storylines. We can see that in many of the extended universe features but not least of all the Luke Luuke Luuuke shit.
It's better to have a authentic hack at the helm than a money grubbing retard. There's love in his work even when it misses the mark (and boy did stuff like rebels miss the mark at times). I'll let him off for resistance. Allegedly he basically did nothing for it and was concentrated on other things at the time of production.
A Sith Lord?
Yeah, from that point I can say he is legitimate heir to Lucas. Sometimes do good but shits most of the time.
pls don't ruin Lone Wolf and Cub in Space season two
