Can't stand Topher Grace. I find everything about him annoying. The only thing I could stand to watch with him in it was that 70's show.

you know what that's actually pretty understandable

Too many things going on at once
If it was just Venom/The Symbiote or just Sandman or just Harry Osborn it would've been fine
But instead it tried to cram all those things into one movie and it felt like this huge mess that didn't know what it was doing half the time

The Sandman stuff was great but with the alien symbiote then Venom then Harry Goblin it just got a bit too much to juggle and handle effectively. Hey, it's got some of the best memes of the 3 and it wasn't the worst sequel ever. I wish there was a 4th movie and maybe the 3rd wouldn't have be looked upon so harshly but as just a slight misfire

Their take on Venom was lame and it made sure Topher would never be allowed to play Peter which he would be a great fit for.

>he would be a great fit for
Please no

agree to disagree that Venom was pretty cool

lack of focus and shitty villains

Venom sucked and felt completely tacked on. Harry vs Peter also felt forced.
Sandman really should have been the only villain in the movie.

>shitty villains
explain. Harry probably, Venom I like him but I guess I can see him coming off as a bit goofy, but Sandman is not shitty

>Sandman
Yes, he was better than the others but he wasn't the main

I kinda want to ask, do you think Topher Grace could've made a good Carnage instead?

Because its got way too much shit shoved into it. The sandman reforming scene is top tier though.

Little too busy. Sandman was cool and then kinda just disappears for a long stretch in the movie.
I liked the dancing bit but it really does go on for a little too long.
IF I HAD MY DRUTHERS: Spiderman should have kept the black suit for the film and then do venom in the sequel. it was just too busy

You posted the only good scene in the movie.

the climax and fight with Harry are really badass and if you don't take it as seriously as apparently the entire internet did when Peter is acting like a cocky dumbass it is incredibley funny

Not really, its just kind of dull. The action in 3 is very forgettable compared to 2.

>Topher Grace
>Good at anything
No

I thought retconning Uncle Ben’s killer was unnecessary and lame.

Venom/Brock, Sandman and Harry all being their own plots made the film too cluttered and lack focus.

I would've kept Harry as the B-plot no matter what since not only is a he a major and recurring plot element from the trilogy but his arc parallel well with both Sandman and Venom's even if it was done poorly. But they really needed to decide if they wanted Sandman or Venom as the A-plot and stuck with it.

Everything that wasn't Sandman...or Bryce Dallas Howard.

Yeah kinda kills the best spider-man moment in 1.

I thought it was really interesting. The idea that the villain that basically created him and only villain he killed, turning out to be the wrong guy is one that creates good emotional turmoil.

>Venom sucked and felt completely tacked on
I can't remember for sure but I think he was. There was something about Raimi not really wanting to have him in it.

no but I think he would've made a decent peter

The story was a mess and they should’ve just picked a single villain rather than Splitting the focus between three of them. You can put the blame for that on pascal. She basically held a gun to Sam Raimi his head and told him to put venom in his movie. Sam Raimi to put it simply did not like venom at all which is probably why he had him killed off the way he did. Sam Raimi wanted his Spiderman three to be a send off to his silver age homage which is why he wanted the bad guy of the movie to be Sandman.

He was.
Executives got upset that he chose an unpopular villain over one of Spidey's most popular rival's and told him he had to add Venom or no movie.

Raimi himself said the movie was awful and by halfway through he stopped giving a shit.

It's just the deformed mirror image of the hero that would come to plague cape movies.

The Raimi movies were all really damn cheesy and the third one was a mess of juggled plot-lines, but I miss them a lot compared to modern Marvel. There was a sincere charm and heart to them that Disney doesn't seem to have much of anymore.

Spiderverse was fun though.

Spiderverse was the closest a superhero film reached Spiderman 2.

But even then despite all the CGI and budget in the world no scene has ever topped the train scene.
