Why is writing so much more thankless than art?

Someone can take two seconds and look at a drawing and decide if they like it. Far fewer people are willing to put in the time to read a story.

They aren’t there for quality art, they’re there to fulfill an urge.

Fanfictions where you are using the worlbuidling but using your own characters like Prequel are many times okay tho.

Everyone had to learn to write for several hours a day, for years, as a kid. It's so common a skill that nearly everyone is proficient enough to convey basic thoughts in it. Makes fantastic writing stand out less.

If everyone learned how to draw from elementary to high school, online art would be thankless, too.

not many people can write "well", they can at best write a MLA format paper because that's all they're taught. Creative writing is something you need to take actual classes for.

Ugh, does anyone really write their fanfiction like this? Starting with key sentences and then expanding on them? Doesn't it take you out of the mood? Just have a basic outline and write the entire story in order, instead of writing a summary and then "filling the gaps".

AO3 is the best for that since they don't censor anything and the tagging system is easy to use for different fetishes

Out of 100 shitty fanfics there are dozen of actually good fanfics. Actually going through 100 shitty fanfics also made me realize majority of published books are fucking trash.

FF doesn't censor either, they say they do but if they did my shit would be long gone

user AO3 was made because FF removed everything "too explicit" (especially if it was gay). They also remove stuff like beastiality, loli/shota, rape etc. But since it has been in that shitty ancient state for years now, it's possible no one is moderating it anymore.
