Personally, I say Ben Grimm ranks above him

Crying shame he can’t get a good movie no matter how hard they fucking try

He's the OG as far as everything is concerned. You can't beat that, you can only imitate it.

technically, stories about shit like hercules is the OG

but heroes as WE know them?
yeah, he is OG and funny enough, tons of heroes from that era are public domain and you couldn't work shit with them.

Superman exists as a joke and as a deterrent to power level arguments. The only thing that's more mary sue than superman is 682.

Being the first doesn’t make you the best, it gives you respect but doesn’t make you the best of all time

Zorro?

I like Supes but you don't really tell interesting stories with him as the protagonist. You tell interesting stories with Perseus or the Argonauts, with Zeus as a backdrop character.

Personally, I find Cap a more appealing hero. But he *is* a hero, where Supes is storytelling window dressing.

Gokufags put on suicide watch

Superman's biggest problem these days is that the writers keep TELLING us that Superman is important and inspiring and shit but almost never do anything to justify that claim or give the reader a reason to care. It comes off a cheap, forced brand advertisement where they are just stamping their feet and DEMANDING we be attached to Supes instead of actually giving us a reason to get attached to Supes. He has become too attached to pop culture icon status to the detriment of characterization.

Superman done right should be inspiring. I can' remember the last time Superman was done right.

He literally got a great historically important movie within the history of cinema

I just want to see Superman being Superman. Helping regular people.

Like that time he convinced that stranded motorist to not kill himself and reconcile with his daughter.

And despite that one important movie they can’t create another one despite his iconic status no matter how hard they try

THIS. This Above all else is what has pretty much hamstring the character in every medium they try to adapt him in. But Especially in live action theatrical movies.

Missed a page there.

If superman was real if a real human being had his sort of absolute power? We would not like him we would not believe him to be good we would not trust him we would actively hate him. I mean we hate politicians for having more power than us. I wouldn’t we hate a man who could literally kill us all if he had a bad day? Whole message of Superman is basically “ here’s a person with power who won’t ever abuse it!” which in a world that literally elected Lex Luthor as President of the United States? We know to fundamentally be untrue.

Is it any wonder the only good non-comic book thing involving superman is the injustice video games? Where he’s literally hitler?

I liked Smallville

Good stuff.
Thanks for sharing user.

That was literally 10 or 12 years ago now

>I can' remember the last time Superman was done right.
unironically Johns new 52 run

Not even the main character.

Personally I would prefer we never get another Superman movie ever again then continuously deal with the fanboy anger and drama every time they fuck him up

ok

Action Comics was great
