Marvel Movies

I'm going marathon the Marvel movies as a complete noob. Can any of you recommend any preparation I should do, stuff I should read/watch, etc? Just stuff to be aware of before hand to maximize enjoyment? I'm talking lore, Easter eggs, and so on.
I ask this because I watched a recommended video on youtube(guess their algorithms knew) detailing the history of Nick Fury and how much he does behind the scenes, and even though I've only seen The first Avenger and Iron Man 1 thus far, it connected so many dots like that weird scene at the very end of Iron man. If one character is this detailed than maybe I should do some more research before continuing. Another example, I knew Iron Man was set on earth and I've heard Guardians of the Galaxy was set in space, but I had no idea they were in the same universe, so it's dawned me: this is highly fleshed out and vast universe!

I've heard people say they wish they could re-watch the marvel movies for the first time again, and I never really understood why. If I'm being honest I thought super hero movies were kind of silly, but I'm totally engrossed now and thoroughly enjoyed the movies I've seen. Any insight or recommendations would be appreciated.

TL;DR: help me enjoy the marvel movies more

Btw this is the view order I'm following: amctheatres.com/amc-scene/the-best-way-to-rewatch-the-mcu

Black Panther Sucks Balls

After the first seven movies you’ll realize they’re all the same movie with the same story beats.

Step 1: Go back to R*ddit
That is all

This isnt your special secret club you fucking autist.

Let people like things.
(OP)
Do as you please there a lot of mediocre films and a few decent ones, try to watch each with an open mind if youre really interested because there is a standard movie formula for most of the movies and once you catch on every movie is nearly the same movie. They are almost all stand alone and the watch order hardly matters , fallow a list or fallow by release date.

I never got this, a lot of people hate Black Panther because of killmonger, isn't that the fucking point of the villain? People say Black Panther encourages racism, no it fucking doesn't the villain does, do you complain about Captian America for having a nazi villain?

Watch them in release order not chronological order, and you can probably skip half the movies, shit like Hulk and the first 2 Thors

>fallow
Here's another tip, don't listen to ESLs

Literally all you need to know is to watch them in release order. There's a good handful of mediocre ones, but they never get outright bad.

>they never get outright bad.
Hulk, Ironman 3

thor 1 is ok, thor 2 is unwatchable

Iron Man 2, the three Thor movies and Captain Marvel are all pretty bad. Not like, Catwoman-tier or anything, but they're on the same levels as the lesser FoX-Men movies or Affleck Daredevil.

I'll give you that. I think Iron Man 3, Thor 2, Avengers 2, and Ant-Man 2 is probably the closest the series gets to being outright bad.

>Avengers 2
Do you mean Civil War or Infinity War, because Civil War was a Captain America movie

Nevermind, I'm either a total retard or just blocked Age of Ultron from my memory, probably a bit of both

Yes and you didn't end your sentence with a period. Shut the fuck up and quit acting like a know it all and that type of internet loser that goes around correcting minor typos on the internet to fulfill your diminished self worth as a piece of shit.

Oh no the ESL is angry, I hope he doesn't mess up the stitching on the next wal mart shirt he makes at the factory tomorrow, El Supervisor might dock him 50 cents and that's a whole day's wage

>they're all the same movie
Because Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnarok, and Homecoming are all tonally identical to each other. Face it, you're just shitting on the MCU for the sake of cool points.

Kek

Lol, look at this little bitch.

OP here, thanks all for the advice even the cynical ones. I've been going down a rabbit hole on Marvel lore just following links on tvtropes and the wiki. Also just finished watching Iron Man 2 and The incredible Hulk. Yes, the movies are bad, actually some scenes are hilariously bad--but I think reading the lore and trying to catch things is increasing my enjoyment. Also, that Rickson Gracie scene at the beginning of hulk was fucking awesome! I almost shit myself when I saw him. I've been a fan of MMA especially old Vale Tudo and I loved the documentary Choke.

I think I'm seriously going to pick up the comics, I'm really enjoying lore this is some outstanding world building. I didn't really know I liked such things. The cosmic and magic side of things looks really cool.

If you think you could enjoy old comics, I recommend some Silver Age stuff, like Fantastic Four by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.

GSP is in Winter Soldier for a bit

Avengers and IM1 are a good start so you can go back if one character interests you. But don't push yourself. Watching like 20 movies in a rown can get painful but that's just me. Most important solos to set up the universe imo are the cap, im, thor, guardians, and Avengers movies.
If only his dad had married an african american woman instead of spawing eggs.

Just watch winter solider, civil war, both guardians, Thor 3, and all the avengers movies. Maybe watch black panther. Rest is filler.

Eh, the MCU movies are just an amalgamation or rough adaptation of core stories from each hero, so there's not really a lot of prep you need since it's not like they're built on comic history.
I thought BP was pretty decent. The only thing it lacked was decent CGI. Most of the out-of-suit fights were half decent and the script on the whole was pretty enjoyable. Basically afrofuturist Star Wars whenever the movie is taking place in Wakanda, which I kinda wish they showed more of

To add; OP shouldn’t read infinity war because it has nothing to do with the movie, and shouldn’t read gauntlet because it’ll make very little sense to a casual. He should also stay away from age of ultron because the movie has nothing to do with the book.

It was pretty good. But wish Killmonger and BP had interacted more, and Wakanda didn't feel that big.

>Hulk
>bad
HAHAHAHA WELL MEME'D BRO

If you want to appreciate what the movies are drawing on then here are some books to read.

>The Infinity Gauntlet saga
>The Ultimates 1 and 2
>Ed Brubaker's Captain America run
>Civil War (don't stop at the main series, some of the tie ins are killer)
>The DnA Cosmic saga/Modern Marvel Cosmic saga (this is a ton to read and only here cause it's where the movie version of the Guardians come from but it's some of the best stuff Marvel has put out in the last 20 years)
>Planet Hulk

You can find all of that on readcomiconline.to though you'll have to google some reading orders. With the exception of the Infinity Gauntlet saga, which you should read before you watch Infinity War and Endgame since it's the same story but leagues better, you don't need to read anything before you watch the MCU. Do your marathon and then get into the comics or get into both simultaneously but don't get too hung up on completionism.

Absolutely
And given that they weren't planning another BP movie any time soon, I'd like to see where the other tribes hang out. We saw a bit with the Border tribe's outpost with the rhinoceros, but I'd like to see the river tribe's stations or the mining tribe's areas. At least the costume designs were really distinct.
And yeah, the actual dialogue between TChalla and Erik was pretty interesting. I'd like it if they did it closer to the comic where Tchalla invites Erik to come back to his homeland and after a couple of nights discovers more about what his father did and learns how extreme Eriks' beliefs are. That initial discussion in the throne room had some good tension.
I think it was shy of being the best of the "Marvel Introductory Hero Movie" formula movies by virtue of its janky CGI and kind of breakneck pace in certain parts.
Here's hoping we see some Malice or Hunter in the future movies, though BP2 will probably be Tchalla and Namor trolling each other like royalty do: by indiscriminately murdering huge swaths of each other's population like they do in the comics

These. The comics are honestly disconnected enough at this point where you get very little from having those versions of the characters in mind. Sure, there's inspiration but the MCU movies are pretty far away from being adaptations at this point and are basically their own universe.
The number one thing that might help is learning about future heroes who are slated to show up so you have some understanding of how they ought to fit into the larger picture. I recommend reading some X-Men essentials. In particular, read Dark Phoenix so you understand the actual big story that Fox fucked up telling twice and you'll be able to see if Marvel actually does better than them in adapting it (because you know it's going to be the second X-Men movie they do off the bat)
