Putting The Last Airbender on Netflix was a mistake
Putting The Last Airbender on Netflix was a mistake
I hope they don't see who made the show
It's an asian-inspired setting, so what about it? There are plenty of stories without white people.
is this ironic
Did you just assume my sweetness?
To be fair, burgers always find the way to include a "relatable" white lead in the most exotic locations.
But why is the exclusion of white people something to be celebrated?
Also a world free of Africans! ABSOLUTELY BASED.
how old is this screencap? can i fuck it legally?
>the Fire Nation’s imperialism, a combo of Mongol and Japanese imperialism, where a technologically superior empire genocides the natives and conquers their lands, is totally acceptable because it wasn’t inspired by Europeans
Wow Raimi, you sure managed to sneak in a redpill on that one.
The setting has been in a perpetual state of war for the last hundred years. I don't know what point they're trying to make here.
People forget this show was made and run by two white guys i swear.
or who voiced most of the characters
It shouldn't matter. People have a right to tell a story featuring any sort of demographic they wish to portray. Doesn't matter if it 'excludes' certain types of people. Representation for the sake of it is lame.
Me too, bro.
they're probably gonna add blacks in the live action adaption
They also find ways to include blacks into places they would have no way of being. So it kinda of evens out.
This is literal hate speech though. Then again, they run Maureen Dowd columns
>Using fictional examples as evidences of a Utopian society
Why do morons do this? Are they honestly blind how foolish, warped, and igroant they sound? It's using Wakanda as example of what would happen without foreign intervention, but everyone knows that societies actually advanced faster (at least in terms of technological and economic development) due to interaction with outside cultures. Isolation is a meme.
>self hating male feminists
Doesn't matter they are white males
Not really because the white guy is 99% MC and the POV character because producers think that otherwise it'd be impossible for audience to give a shit about the story. Meanwhile the black guy is a token negro. It's an all-American tradition that goes as far as The Last of the Mohicans
Ironically, they're so far up their own ass that they fail to realize the amount of stories, media, folklore and else that DON'T contain white people, but because they are incapable of orbiting anything but mainstream media and Hollywood shit that they're convinced that everything out there is white.
It's like people who will swear every anime character is white because they think that "The cartoon has white skin = White Character. The cartoon has Black Skin = Black Character.", even though they have Japanese names and Japanese people clearly think the characters are white. Similarly, if an Indian or Egyptian person see a black or white character in anime they'll think they're Indian or Egyptian because their features are so non-descriptive that they're able to see themselves in them.
both tophs look cute
Korra, Sokka, and Katara are already black.
they're brown
It's more about the ability to have successful shows that don't feature insurance whites and also aren't clearly targeted at a specific racial demographic, like how black sitcoms are often clearly aimed at black audiences.
>Without white people
>War, genocide, imperialism, police state, brownest people relegated to the harshest environments under constant scrutiny and murderer at will
rofl
They're Eskimos, which are kinda of brown.
Asians are white, though.
Only the Japanese, and only because Hitler-sama himself recognized them as Honorary Aryans.
Yes. Definitely.
