Underrated. I liked it a lot, but it came out several years too late. 3D animation had already taken over.

If it was either all 3D or came out earlier it would've done way better.
Also Eris was hot as fuck

I saw it in theaters and I remember very little of it, should I rewatch

It's a decent action comedy.

>Arab fairytale

>White characters

it's ok

It was a different time.

I played the dvd menu games a lot

Soulless mediocrity. Movies like this are one of the reasons why theatrical 2D animation fell off in the west

Main character was a sexist douche with no charisma. Brad Pitt seemed very miscast too. Not gonna lie, Will Smith Fish was a better MC imo

Personally, i didn't care for any of the 2D Dreamworks films, outside of maybe El Dorado ( only because of its humor ). They're all inferior to any of the Disney Reinassance films, even flawed ones like Pocahontas

Arabs can be fairly white in skintone, not to say they're white people, but some minority of them can certainly look close.

Dreamworks only cares about money. They did this because they were afraid that the movie would flop in a post 9/11 world otherwise ( not that it made any difference, since it was still a flop )

Why do people say that Shark Tale is the worst Dreamworks film, despite this movie or Shrek the Third's existence ?

I watched it pretty recently and it did not grab my attention at all. Just boring visually and story telling-wise. And easily casted by the most hateable people ever.

Pretty much. This movie came out only a few weeks after Finding Nemo. Can you really blame audiences for losing interest in 2D movies in favor of CG ?

Ralph Bakshi hated this film. He also considers all 2D Dreamworks films to be some of the worst hand drawn animations films out there. Judging by this film and Spirit, he may have a good point

I remember being somewhat disappointed he didn't use his sword directly against the monsters a lot but now I realized why he didn't, this movie introduced me to the character actually and eventually saw 7th voyage and liking that a lot.

One of the few last that had this amazing design for evil woman... reminder that they stopped making this kind of movie because of dreamworks "3D" shit stuff.

They stopped making 2D films because nobody cared about them. Shrek and Shark Tale made more bank than any of their 2D films, so why would they continue making them ?

Haven't watched it in a while but I thought it held up last time I did

This movie was Dreamworks's biggest embarassment. Think about it : they made the most successful animation film since Lion King with Shrek, just to make this flop of a movie only 2 years later and nearly going bankrupt because of how bad it permormed. They rebounded with Shrek 2 and Shark Tale the following year

Ah yes, the illustrious Ralph Bakshi, whose only claims to fame are psuedo intellectual simp furry and cool world.

He's still totally in the right to criticize 2D Dreamworks films. I 100% agree with him when he said that there's more to learn from a Fleischer Popeye short than the entirety of Prince of Egypt

Even Cool World took more advantage of the medium than any of the 2D Dreamworks films, all of them which could've easily been live action films with barely any difference

The writer was fresh off of Gladiator and was still in that general mindset.

>a two handed grip
>on a blade that short and thin

>only because of its humor
Sure totally because of that.

But 2D animation fell off and got replaced with even more soulless medocrity.
