Alright fags, listen up. To all of you retards who say The Batman Who Laughs is a Judge Death ripoff, shut the fuck up. First and foremost, Death is meant to be a satirical character like most of the characters in Dredd’s universe. He was meant to mock the edgy state of comic books at the time. Meanwhile, we have this clown fuck over here who is just a ripoff of the design. They’re nothing alike. If anything, The Batman Who Laughs is a perfect example of the shit Judge Death exists to take the piss out of.

It's objectively bad for the company when a bad character is popular. The Batman who laughs cannot be turned into a sustainable tentpole franchise for DC like say Deadpool has for Marvel. He's a gimmick character. They can ride the wave but it's just a shame that they can't make good new villains.

I hope one day the over reliance on Batman and Joker destroys this company so they can learn.

He's Batman + Joker, an evil Batman with the combined popularity of two characters and cashing in 90's nostalgia edge. He's not some villain that everyone is using. He's Snyder's villain and he's almost always the only one using him.

Yea, either Adam West or Brave and the Bold Batman should have embarrassingly beat his ass, or Joker should have gotten the chance to torture him and gloat about how much of a phony he is.

But the company is centralizing both events and prestige maxi-series around him.

Judge Death being a good character doesn't make BWL any less of a rip off dude. Snyder is hack who probably has never even read the Dark Judges but he obviously took the concept as inspiration.

I'd say there's more stuff focused on Harley these days. She's had almost half a dozen Black Label books already. BWL is just a writers pet that's getting exposure because he sells. He's not taking over all the books and even Metal was one of the least disruptive events, only taking one issue out of a handful of ongoings before everything went back to normal. Apex Lex and Perpetua had more of an impact and from what I've read the whole Doom signal was handled pretty well by most books, some even doing the bare minimum before going back to their usual thing. All I see are people blowing this out of proportion.

I only read Green Lantern at this point being so fed up with DC so I'll admit I've just assumed they're doing the classic "take over all the books" events shit. Still he's had 2 events in 3 years, they're pretty objectively shoving him down our throats.

Harley’s solo book is actually good though. user is even doing a story time of it right now
