Like, I can sort of understand wearing your costume for the funeral of a fellow superhero, but to the funeral of civilians too?

Why would Bruce Wayne go to Lian’s funeral?

This but unironically

It's actually Dick Grayson during his time as Batman.

If you have a secret identity but still want to pay your respects, sure.

They should have funeral versions of their costumes. Their costumes are kinda like their military uniforms and often also protect secret identities like points out

Half of the people in the OP have no secret identity. And those that do could probably wear a more appropriate suit/dress and a mask.

Yeah, funeral versions sounds good. Like maybe an all-black version of their costume or something.

Supes should wear his black suit for funerals and mourning.

hal this is why coast city was destroyed

Wearing black isn’t a requirement, it’s more of a formal thing. As for hero costumes, they may look silly to us, but in universe they’re uniforms showing a sign of status and respect for the fallen

I think they should just put on a black suit simply to take it seriously, like in Watchmen, but made a good point about costumes being like military uniforms, and those are always considered appropriate.

If it's the funeral of a fellow superhero yes, if it's just some civilian like Roy Harper's daughter there's absolutely no fucking reason to dress like that.

That sounds retarded. God I love capeshit

There are plenty of cool black suits that they could and should be wearing, but I get the "costumes are their military uniform" perspective.
HOWEVER Black Canary and Zatanna absolutely should not be wearing fishnets to a goddamn funeral.

Hero funerals are always visually pretty ridiculous when it’s a mix, what with the family in mourning up front in regular attire while Plastic Man zeepzops forlornly in the background.

Everybody just consider it a black tie affair and don’t make the rest of them look bad. Begging you to stop it.

That is unless it’s open to the public, then wear your bootleg merchandise to celebrate the life of the dead mascot of your community.

funeral scenes are fucking cringe

> casket gets lowered
> underground theme starts playing

The military wears dress uniforms to funerals, not their working uniforms.

Kek

Is it really? I mean think about it. If Superman is showing up to your funeral, do you want him in a boring ass suit, or do you want him to honor you by wearing his signature uniform?

So heroes should have at least three unique costumes set aside for formal, semi-formal, and informal occasions?

Or Warp Pipe noise.

Going to a child's funeral wearing your superhero costumes is pretty weird.

Why isn't Zatanna reality warping whoever's dead back to life? Does she not want to ruin the moment?

OK, this shit is inexcusable. The X-Men are among fellow X-Men, they have no secret identities to protect and we've seen them at funerals without their costumes before.

Damn, Jean is that old???

Zatanna's powers don't work like that

Come on what child WOULDN'T want heroes in full costumes to show up to their funeral?
