I didnt watch any cartoon in a few years.
Last time i checked Adventure Time was the hot shit, alongside Steven Universe and over the Garden wall.
So what's worth watching now ?
I didnt watch any cartoon in a few years
Toss a coin at the Wakfu creators and hope for the best.
I hope you like brown magical girls.
The Shivering Truth is awesome
Amphibia and Kipo are great
Crossing Swords and Solar Opposites need more love
I mean you could always just start with what you listed I don't see why you have to ask Zig Forums and have your opinion of a show possibly be skewed by us
Is Steven Universe still fucking going ?
nope it finished like two months ago I think 5 seasons, a movie, and an epilogue series
Not much, really.
She Ra apparently made a pretty big impact? Sorta? Kinda? I didnt watch it but it seems to exist in the catalogue a bit more than other shows do.
Star Vs was pretty big, I didn't watch that one either. Wasn't as big as Adventure Time or Gravity Falls but it had a following.
Rick and Morty is barely talked about despite its most recent season just ending. Was generally entertaining, not always great, but better than most other crap out there.
Harley Quinn has an animated series now, it's basically a very very very mediocre version of Venture Bros with DC characters.
You should get caught up on real Venture Bros if you aren't already, great show. Still years in between seasons.
Oh, and Primal! That's the only show that really feels at all like an "event" type of thing. Definitely worth checking out. Samurai Jack also got a final season, dunno if you missed that. First three episodes are fucking phenomenal.
A youtube animation called Hazbin Hotel got really really big for a little while, considering there's just one episode.
And...you're basically caught up. Cartoons are all kinda dead right now. I don't know why I still come here. I don't come here much anymore.
Oh yeah and Into the Spiderverse was a really good movie. A must watch.
Fuck, I knew I missed one.
The Shivering Truth is something else. Same group of guys that made Xavier Renegade Angel. Watch both if you haven't.
>what's worth watching now ?
Over the Garden Wall
Watch something and decide if it was worth it
But i watched that a long time ago
>Oh yeah and Into the Spiderverse was a really good movie. A must watch.
Disregard this user's post, he is clearly unwell
Good lord, Bonnie is so goddamn fine.
My favourites of the last year or so are She-Ra and Kipo, two different takes on action shows with obvious inspiration from AtLA.
She-Ra has great writing, and rich complex characters, but falls down on it's action.
Kipo has really fun action and a great soundtrack, but most of the charcters are a bit flat.
Go watch Glitch Techs. Great animation, cute main character, and there's only 10 episodes to catch up on.
You are clearly not a fan of animation.
I'm genuinly impressed with She-Ra's staying power here, the finale was over a month ago, and they're still managing daily threads, that hit bump limit with relativly low image counts.
Ballmasterz 9009 came out awhile ago and was pretty good.
Close enough is finally coming out on HBO max.
The dragon prince, final space and that Castlevania show are semi-popular but controversial.
Infinity train is another mini series that CN put out last year.
boondocks is coming back
If it's animation you want, watch Alberto Mielgo's stuff like The Witness, it doesn't need to have a shit story attached to it as well
Hilda if you like cute brats in vaguely scandanavian settings.
Amphibia if you like portal fantasy and/or frogs.
DC superhero girls if you like the idea of DC superheroes aimed at small girls.
Miraculous Ladybug if you enjoy 3d modeled teens in spandex and have absolutely no standards in any other area.
Dragon Prince if you want something like AtLA and don't mind a pretty sharp step down in quality.
Bojack Horseman if you enjoy jokes about sad people in hollywood.
>She Ra
definitely has it's fans, but was over represented in the catalog for a while because it was good shitpost fodder.
>Star vs
was fine, then very bad. Not recommended unless you're comfortable abandoning things midway or enjoy watching things implode.
I’d say She-Ra and Kipo are both doing ATLA better than Dragon Prince
I'm genuinely impressed the fans haven't coalesced into some horrid general and gotten themselves booted to /trash/ like every other show eventually does.
I haven't seen it and the only thing I know about it is shera and catra are lesbians at the end. Surprisingly it seems like people aren't losing their shit in a frothing rage over it. Guess it helps those types were put off by the character redesigns from the start, so they didn't bother following the show.
Also Invincible is getting an animated adaption on Amazon prime
Klaus is a really good 2d animated movie on Netflix.
Someone let me know if I forgot anything.
So what happened with the star vs thing? It seems universally agreed on to have declined sharply.
I know at the end there was some sort of handwaved away magic genocide. I saw I think most of the first season and thought it was fine but wasn't interested in watching more.
Wholeheartedly, both excel in different areas, but scratched the AtLA itch like nothing else has in years.
I wouldn't even say Dragon Prince is trying to be AtLA though, to me it feels like it's trying to be Korra, and somehow failing at that.
Not that user but I was one of those people who was put off by it initially, not vocally but I just didn’t like the look of a gay-ass princess show.
I only decided to give it a go because of people comparing it to other shows and I was pleasantly surprised that it managed to live up to what people said about it. It’s probably the best cartoon I’ve seen since OtGW came out.
>it feels like it's trying to be Korra, and somehow failing at that
Damn, that's a harsh burn even by Zig Forums standards.
Given the replies on this thread, that user probably liked LoK.
Yeah, I don’t love the show but it’s not THAT bad. I’m enjoying it a lot more than I liked Korra.
Called it.
>those types were put off by the character redesigns from the start, so they didn't bother following the show.
Pretty much, and it didn't fall into the same 'last episode lesbians' trap as Korra or Adventure Time, as the entire thing was a 5 season long messy romance, so there wasn't much to bitch about there either.
I'm not a fan of the artstyle either, but for me the deal breaker that stops me from watching it is I'm a nearly 30 year old man and even if I watch cartoons sometimes, my ego makes me draw the line at the magic princess show aimed at the kid-to-teen girl demographic. I just wouldn't feel right watching that.
Could be a great show, and I could be missing out. But I just can't.
Everything went to shit, got fucked up and sucks now.
Half the shit on Zig Forums is coomer trash, the other half is dumbfuck shipping and waifu wars. Nobody wants to talk about anything unless it has shit in it they can masturbate to.
Called what?
I think it's okay at best, had a lot of interesting ideas, but managed to fuck up pretty much all of them.
That's fair, It stops being what you're thinking of as the 'magical princess show' in the back end of season 1, and pivots to being a character drama mostly about abuse but with the magical princess trappings, but that first 8 or so episodes are a chore to get through
