WAKE
No. Not this again.
I expect a movie that references the most recent game and forgets anything older exists.
Miyamoto would remember....right?
Mario is already like 90% self-referential to the old games with 10% new stuff, every game is full of imagery from the first game
So what are the chances of each of these characters appearing in the movie?
Tell that to Bowser's sons and daughter.
I think you're confusing Mario for Sonic
They could go two ways. A tour of cameo characters without much plot happening, or a quick high stakes plot that leaves a lot out or reinvents for the sake of brevity. Either way, you've got 90 minutes to work with.
i dont know if its good design or bad design how out of place and oc tier rosalina looks when put with the rest of the cast. I'd also say its great seeing as she's from space
>sons and daughter
Not anymore according to Miyamoto :]
>MY FIRE BALLS
they arent his kids
Not at all.
The fuck are you talking about? The Koopalings have been getting plenty of attention for damn near 10 years now.
To the point people were pissed off they were bosses in Paper Mario Color Splash
Maybe because she's the only one there who's not from the 90s and earlier.
Waluigi debuted in Mario Tennis which came out in 2000. He ain't no 90s character.
user, SMB movie came out when the most recent game was Super Mario World, and even then it included everything from the previous games.
Or at least versions of them
The early 2000s are basically 90s adjacent
it's an illumination film, so this is the perfect opportunity to have Waluigi be the star, and have to do some shit to save the day and gain acceptance by the other characters a la Despicable Me and The Grinch.
And it's why they'll likely be in this movie along with Bowser Jr.
The movie made the characters about dinosaurs. It was purely from SMW.
This is delusional.
it's every movie they write, so it would make the most sense. whether or not they do is up to them and Nintendo at the end.
Mario/Peach/Bowser/Toad/Goomba/Kopa are locks.
Luigi/Yoshi are very likely along with Boo.
Everyone else on there is a tossup. Could range from being involved with the story, cameos or not appearing.
If you are going to cram all of them into a 90 minutes flick, their performance can be nothing but disappointment.
>GYAHH!! MY FIREBALLS!!
IN A WORLD
Lol.
With Miyamoto involved, you bet your ass that will not happen.
>Mario movie is gonna suck
of course it will, all videogame movies suck. only the IP that were designed as stories first and games second like Half Life or Monkey Island have a good chance of not sucking, or they can go Detective Pikachu and abandon the game logic for an adaptation that works within live action.
ME UP CAN’T WAKE UP
Well of course it's what I expect but they'll want to have a number of significant minions of Bowsers to play off each other and off on him during their scenes. Plus they'd be the comedy scenes.
DO THE MARIO
No, there were plenty of characters from the previous games, it had Shyguys, Big Bertha, and the Goomba Shoe I think Mouser was there too,
Hell, the main Princess wasn't even Peach, it was Daisy.
>the movie Goombas looked more like the original Bowser than movie Bowser
>Detective Pikachu
The only real problem with the movie is that it had "Detective" in the title. They go on a journey of discovery, which is fine, but they don't really detect anything in the way that would could only be done by them and not some random person with any other job.
I miss when they would show Mario as an Italian-American plumber from Brooklyn.
Old interview with Miyamoto translated to English. Interestingly, he still says that after Yoshi's Island.

>There’s no particularly detailed background or anything, but yeah, it’s a given that Mario is an Italian-American from Brooklyn, New York. That voice was actually done by a professional voice actor. He did Mario’s voice five or six years ago, at a video game event. By the way, Mario talks a lot more in the American version of Mario 64. He says “Okie Dokie!” and more. Peach also speaks. We had more time before the American release, so we improved the game.
And Mario's girlfriend was some chick from Brooklyn who wasn't Pauline.
*still says that here in 1996 at least
Will she appear? She has been pushed pretty hard in recent times.
She is in the most recent game.
That's a cool interview
>—By the way, what happened to Luigi?
>Miyamoto: Well… until February, he was in the game. (laughs) Ultimately, due to memory issues, we had to take him out. Then we were going to include him in a Mario Bros. style minigame, but because most users probably only have that one controller when they first buy their N64, for that reason (and others) we decided not to.
Man Miyamoto looked so young back then.
Yeah, even though the interview I posted is from 1996, that image is even older. It's him in his office working on Super Mario Bros. 3 around 1988.
Possibly. If they want some cheap love triangle drama between her, Mario and Peach or something to spruce things up. Of course idk if Miyamoto would be cool with it.
>still pushing the brooklyn plumber bs
fucking die, moviebob. nothing about his design says "plumber"
construction worker? perhaps.
Yeah that was weird. Wish we got Luigi in M64. Always felt it was weird he was absent from that game.
That's straight from Shiggy himself. It's one thing I can actually agree with Movie Bob on.

Am I the only one who likes Pauline over Peach?
I doubt she'll show up at all, she seems more like a sequel character. But I really hope we eventually see Rosalina and maybe adapt SMG
