I'll try again. A crazy character's actions won't follow logic. If we follow the story from the eyes of the crazy person, we see their thought process and the story lends reasons to their actions. The audience loses the surprise factor that is such a big part of a crazy clown's antics.

Comparing these 2 inanities is interesting but kind of apples & oranges. The Legion guy is actually relatively sane. His status quo is sanity (on the surface at least) His craziness is from an outside force. He has crazy episodes but we hardly ever see it. Blackouts, and such. These help with that surprise factor
