This isn't trying to stir up controversy, I've noticed that in basically any type of animation drawn by Chinese, Koreans, Japanese and some others, they always avoid their yellow hue in their skin color.
Why? Pic related draws herself with a pinky skin tone yet doesn't have it at all. No offense to her or any other Asian who does this I'm just asking why are they 'whitewashing' themselves?
Fair skin is an important element of beauty standards in most East Asian cultures. Even more important than it was to white people before Coco Chanel convinced them all that getting skin cancer was worthwhile. You stupid, pale fucks. If you're not brown already, stay out of the goddamn sun. Accept that you are vampires.
Michael Bennett
It's not just their skin color. Even back in the 80s the Chinese kung fu comics I read were chock full of what looked like Caucasians.
Asher Sanders
Maybe it is somekind of skin related inferiority complex towards filthy gweilos or something.
Asher James
Asians have more beta carotene in their skin which gives them a yellowish complexion.

Can someone post that comic where the artist complains about people drawing Asian eyes too narrow and complaining about how racist it is while the artist herself has the tiniest most slant eyes possible.
Because white was pretty long before white people even showed up you culture pushing mong. White implies you never worked hard labor. Your skin hasn't been cooked brown by the cruel sun, and is thus pristine. Untouched.
You are a work of art, and thus should be preserved. Those that cannot be born with the luxury of pale skin then go through the efforts of being petite and demure with smaller waists, wider eyes, and a pale skin tone that makes the red of your lips stand out like petals in snow.
And before you shitstains go >Hurr Japanese thing This applies to all Asia. The pursuit of the fair skinned noble who never had to work in his life is the ideal condition.
because we totally needed another race baiting thread

Personally she's more tan than than yellow. Its that she drew her hair such a light brown when hers is black that's weird.
Frankly I've never understood the argument that no anime characters "look white" because they are all (mostly) asian. Even as a kid watching inuyasha I didnt understand how everyone was pale when every single asian person I'd ever met was some kind of tan.
I don't know why giving asian characters asian eyes is so looked down upon either. You can show ethnic features without dissolving into racist caricature.
Josiah Garcia
they're not asking why the ideal is light skin, they're asking why most asians dont realize their skin undertones are more often yellow, as opposed to red how they draw themselves
answer being most people dont really know how they look at all or what kinda subtle shades or undertones they have or any of that crap because people dont see themselves as well from the side as we see others. and esp asians people in Asia who domt see other whites dong have anything to compare the whole entire race to, and only see that humans tends to all have at least SOME red undertones in us all because of the blood underneath
Ryan Howard
Must have been pretty annoying to find out that no matter how much time you spend indoors putting chalk powder to your face you will always look like a filthy tanned peon when compared to some occidental barbarian.
Lincoln Russell
It's pretty minor on the whole, but it depends which Asian country/racial group you're discussing.
Eitherway it's a major thing that fair skin = best skin. I lived out in Malaysia for a good few years. It's like the inverse of the UK where everyone slathers on fake tan, over in Asia they all slather on fake whitener.
And yet despite this this, they still call white people 'Mahalis' (Ghost skins). It's a weird fucking complex for sure, and this was all before SJW shit was thrown in over the last 8 years.

Op here. Look at the op pics face. Can you not see it?
Aiden Thomas
I don’t really see yellow
Angel Brown
Because they're not yellow. You're inferior eyes just cannot comprehend the fair complexion of Asian skin. Just as your inferior taste buds do not process Umami to the same level as Asians.

How about “tanned” or “warm”.
Julian Sanchez
It really depends. Some characters definitely look asian, and you know that the artist is saying "this is a white person" when they have blonde hair, blue eyes, and probably wear some kind of western flag on their person. But it isn't so cut and dry, like in the same anime you can have the standard anime look and then some really asian looking people. An example was the Kodomo no Jikan adaptation, where a character was in a bar and everyone else looked like a somewhat real person compared to her idealized look.

Actual gook here. Basically we love white skin because white skin = rich. Also asian white skin is different from europe whote skin
