This thing is finally back after three months, let’s get it over with
IDW Sonic 28 Storytime
Thanks, storytimer. I liked last issue.
This comic is garbage. Glad it is ditching these long storyarcs in favor of shorter stories.
It's best not to speak in broad generalizations. There's been some good issues.
There really hasn’t.
This one was a good issue.
Why not? The comic is focused on these long storyarcs and the stories themselves are horrible.
Congrats, it only took them 28 issues to print a good one.
It is good only by comparison of the shit before it.
Tails’ solo quest was good, last issue with Cream & Gemerl was great
Agree to disagree.
Was solo quest the one where he finds the cure?
No it isn't, and I liked 27.
Yeah, then fights the horde from his old mecha
How? Not only did that issue have some of the worst arc in the whole comic but the issue was basically a humilation conga for Tails. He loses the cure and then can't bother to actually try fighting zombots before losing it.
It's not constructive to just say "unga bungalow bad comic." It's better to isolate what you like and dislike and explain your feelings. That creates better threads, better conversations, and more effective feedback when it inevitably reaches the creators in some form.
Ian Flynn defended the long story arcs saying he has more time to focus on the characters.
He outright stated that he wanted create a comic full of tragedy and people looking for something different should go somewhere else.
Losing or failing at a mission is neither a "humiliation conga", nor is it bad writing. In one issue not only did he prove himself smarter than anything he's ever done in Archie - successfully creating a cure to something Eggman admitted he couldn't and calling back to the fact he created a mecha to equal Eggman's own - but he also fought his opponents better than he did in his own entire Universe arc. The comic had nothing but respect for Tails, and 50x more respect for him than Archie's ever once shown
If that's considered respect for Tails I am afraid to read Archie now.
I didn't like the issue either, but I can see why user would enjoy it. The idea behind it is strong, it's just poorly executed. Tails having to manage between keeping his workshop secure and finalizing/transmitting his data is a good concept for a 20 page story. It sucks because the issue wastes pages teasing other things and goes about all his setbacks in the most boring, on-the-nose way.
That's fair, Archie's terrible and most famously terrible to Tails
>tragedy
>Sonic
Nah im good
That's nice and all.
I'm saying try to be more precise and open minded when you talk about it. Even if you hate every single page, it's better to dig into what you think isn't working.
I meant to say art not arc
SA2 was more of a tragedy than this and people love its B-movie plot.
>do his hero thing
Ian always makes characters saying, “Sonic do his hero thing”, and it never stops sounding fucking retarded.
There is a change in format starting after this arc so the complaint about the long stories seems to have gotten through. The story looks to be more lighthearted.
>Tails self insert
Jesus christ what happened to Zig Forums? Nobody reds comics there, it's just character worship and porn spam. Might just rename it "Zig Forums : what twitter things about comics and cartoons" at this point. You are a tertiary tourist and nothing else.
He's not a self-insert, he's just trying to blindly flail for reasons to hate specific issues while disregarding the fact Archie was much worse for the same reasons he brought up
I am not an Archie fan.
Not them but
"Oh no the two characters we know conveniently cut the power at exactly the right time!" is far more boring than a transmission being incomplete because the zombies hit the power midway, for example. The story is built on that kind of writing the whole way through, which sucks all the fun out of it. There's no uncertainty or drama. Everything falls cleanly into place.
