He is still known as a very nice guy, but he's distant from the current industry and has moved more into books. Marvel is probably assmad at him for the Miracle Man shit and DC seems to only be interested in getting him to write more Sandman shit.
His relationship with Palmer also kind of distances him from comics. He really doesn't seem interested in being involved in the industry anymore, and it's hard to blame him.

You can be a really nice guy who helps out writers/artists while still being a weird sex pervert.
