Not sure what people have discussed but I find somethings interesting about, including behind the scenes. Allegedly Craig McCracken stated he wanted to add an imaginary friend spawend from a psychedelic high but he wasn't sure how to be subtle with it.

I mean, if you wanted to play the game, you'd have to say it was Frankie's imaginary friend, because she does not and has never had one. Like, she's a hip young 20-something and she does shrooms, then poof there's one added to the house and she has to hide its origins.

I think it's just a case of the older you get the less imaginative you are and the harder it becomes to make imaginary friends. Some teens can still make them, and Goo having a very overactive imagination had a problem of just willing dozens into existence at a time.
