I've started to get into franco/belgian comics because their settings and narratives are refreshingly different, but I'm not sure where to start. I've read pic related and Ekho, which I mildly enjoyed both, but I know there's thousands of good titles out there. What are some good (preferably fantasy-leaning) franco-belgian titles?

I also tried
-Quest of the Time Bird (okay)
-Thorgal (don't have the taste and class to appreciate the classics)
-Astrix (same as Thorgal)
-Mobius (required reading)
-Prophet (fucking good)
Read anything drawn by Kerascoet for the eye-candy alone, also seconding the mobius reccomendation. I started off with The Incal.
Read Valerian. It's got sci-fi that's fantastical enough to qualify as fantasy.
You are also required by law to read Corto Maltese. Sorry, there's just no way around it. I hate it but there you go.
>-Prophet (fucking good)
That's an Image comic?
Backmoon chronicles is the only fantasy french series I know of. Something about the plot turned me off but you might like it.
There's also a franco belgium comic that's like a proto Boku no hero academia about teenage french superheroes in a superhero academy but I forget the name
seconding Thorgal and Moebius
what you are looking for is Arawn, great art and a story about 4 waring brothers and their mother
Uno dos tres...Sha Sha Sha...uno dos tres...Sha Sha Sha
Stormbringer and Mournblade?
What about Valérian and Laureline?
Tintin is the Godfather of Franco Belgian comics. I would recommend Yoko Tsuno, Storm, and Franka.
>Prophet
Yes, but you want the rebooted series starting at issue 21 in 2012

Black Moon is really good, and you should try Requiem too.
It's about a vampire in hell, and it's edgy as all fuck, but the good kind. Also the art is gorgeous.
Donjon is a good parody of sword and sorcery: en.wikipedia.org
just finished the first two volumes, great shit.
I'm the same, I only got into them in the last week or so but I really like them so far. XIII is a pretty good mystery-thriller but I accept it's not for everyone. Isabellae is excellent and I'd recommend it wholeheartedly. Valérian and Laureline is one I've only begun to read but so far it's holding up. Just so you know, if you're a /shelf/ man Cinebook does a lot of the paperback/hardcover releases in English but I've heard they censor some things like nudity for whatever reason. I know they certainly used to, but whether that's something they still do I can't quite ascertain, so you might want to stick to unofficial translations if there are any. Also the binding is pretty poor, so that's awful to contend with
oh shit this is it thank you user I've been meaning to reread that
It's too bad they are taking so long for the next part. It's supposed to come out 2020, but after years of waiting and no sign from the publishers I'm not so sure.
they just better finish it before they die.I know, not a good year to say that, especially Mills being old and in Britain
Boucq's Jerome Katzenmeier's adventures
There's also Gotlib's parody of superheroes and the French, Superdupont. Example thread with a storytime: boards.fireden.net

Too bad only that one volume got translated. There's at least five more of them.
Frederik Peeters: Aama series, Pachyderme, and Sandcastle
Mutafukaz, Dark Meat City - the comic is superior to the film which was confusing.
Later they produced a prequel comic: Puta Madre
You are thinking about Freak Squill. Great art, nice plot. A good read overall.
"Seuls" ils also a great french serial, about a bunch of children surviving in a world where every human being disappeared overnight.
And I will also recommend Lewis Trondheim, all his comics have terrible art, but amazing and powerful plotlines.
