Will Sword and Sorcery ever be popular again in vidya?

and by vidya you mean comics, right?
Oh fuck, wrong board. FUCK IT
Yeah comics
Anything is possible, but lots of stuff would have to change before a resurgence.
Conan is probably the most interesting addition to mainline Marvel in a while. I miss Fell's Five.
I dont really care for Modern Conan. I only read the newer stuff from 10years ago to catch up on the Adventures of Two-Gun Bob
I'm kind of suprised Solomon Kane never got a good comic adaptation. His design rules and his stories are really cool
Did he not? I understand Marvel is putting out a Solomon Kane omnibus; I assume those are old Marvel comics - are those not good? The movie was pretty badass. I've never read any of his stories yet, although I will.
>Modern Conan
Is he defeated and humiliated by a stronk lesbian with a buzzcut yet?
I honestly didn't know Marvel did a run, lemme go check them out
I don't think so, not in any big way. There won't be any major trends towards fantasy material. At least not without some kind of catalyst. Something that starts a trend that people try and ride for awhile. Like another LotR tier success.
I mean even though I know we are TOTALLY talking about comics here, you'd have better chance with vidya. RPG systems just for reasons seem to work better with fantasy settings.
Nice dubs. I personally believe most comics producers are simply too untalented to make S&S stuff
Give me a Gothic comic or a cartoon, goddamnit.
And I mean a good one, not gay shit like what Castlevania got.

Only if the hero gets speared on that horsecock.
We aint never getting another great game like Gothic, stop trying
kek. But in comics, Image had a big fantasy surge about 8 years ago, almost all the books were fantasy, but Sci-Fi has taken over again. Give it time and Image will go back to Fantasy
It's very amusing to insult people but it's moreso that it's not popular anymore, hardly anyone's interesting in either making or reading them.
We call those people faggots
also if you want good fantasy stuff, most of the good comics come from Europe
Well yeah, but a man can dream.
>tfw you will never get past Orc guards to explore the Orc territory as a low-level character who didn't even get his first armor
I still remember how terrifying that was. No modern RPG gave me a feeling like that.
Shame this comic got dropped
Dewey still wants to come back to it, but it's been years since he said that
>finally get into buying floppies
>find out everything I like is so unpopular I have to special order it
>comic shop completely overhauls how it manages order lists to a much clunkier system
>all the comics I like all end up cancelled/indefinite hiatus
>just give up and go back to pirating/mango
how do you do it bros?
how do
by dropping floppies and going with trades
I like how magic is generally treated as less common and deadlier in sword and sorcery stories. The casual presence of magic in most fantasy universes makes it feel cheap and boring and opens up too many questions about why everybody doesn't just learn magic. Magic should be nearly impossible to learn and experienced wizards should be scary, overpowered motherfuckers.
>inb4 LOTR pic
I know.
Low fantasy is best fantasy
Magic should always be treated as a super exotic thing, even if it's basic baby conjuring
Even pirating single issues only to have them cancelled was annoying.
>The casual presence of computers opens up too many questions about why everybody doesn't just learn coding
fuck you guys, bronze age fantasy is best fantasy. magic should be everywhere used by everyone and a fundamental part of reality.
let me see the world the Babylonians thought they lived in.
Nah, fuck that. Settings where magic is common is great. It needs to have internal rules of course, but it's much more interesting than no magic.
Tolkien is low fantasy
You guys want a midway between mid and high fantasy?
It will always have a minor hold in comics thanks to Conan and a lesser extent Cerebus, but it's unlikely it will ever be a big genre. Headlopper is great if you want some modern sword and sorcery.
