I've just finished the first season and it was pretty great, nowhere near as bad as you've lead me to believe over the years. And Aang's third season was pretty bad

see you after the honeymoon period when you start thinking about how much more potential the amon arc had once you're balls deep in the shitshow that is season 2.

People tend to hate season 2 the most, BTW.
I liked the whole series, desu.
Hating it is kind of a meme, or hardcore nostalgiafags hating that the main characters from the first series weren't perfect angles and grew up. Or think Korra is a mary-sue.

Get out of this board NOW before their opinions poison your mind and you can't go see the rest of the series fresh. Finish the series (ALL 4 BOOKS!) and then come back to discuss, without your opinions being swayed by the masses.

>And Aang's third season was pretty bad

I saw it recently and I'm not sure what people here seem to dislike about it, it's just as good as the rest of the show and has plenty of kino episodes like the beach one, the jail break one the play one etc

Am I the only one who thought both shows were good and had no bad seasons?

I mean come on everything else on on Zig Forums is much worse.

I liked the last half of ATLA much more than the first, so I don't get this at all. The first half is way too episodic for my taste.

No. You're not. I enjoyed all of it.
Zig Forums (the whole internet, really) is full of NPC's who just like to repeat the same 'internet approved' opinions back and forth in their echo-chambers.

I like Korra more thant most of Zig Forums but Season 2 is a utter mess. It gets better after that, but my god is Season 2 a struggle.

What I didn't like was the cheap way to let Aang deal with Ozai without having to compromise his morals, a form of bending he mastered over five minutes that none of his previous incarnations knew about wow how convenient. That and I think there was too much crammed into this last season, Azula losing her mind and getting rid of all her followers in the course of ONE episode, Zuko not getting enough time to integrate with the rest of the squad resulting in his one on one trips with each member, which were quite great but you know what I mean.

Korra is only worth discussing on R*ddit. This board is just full of frothing in the mouth retards

I hate how they relegated Zuko's mom to the comics. Fuck this shit, they're not even written by the creators, get all the characters wrong and most of the time have atrocious art

That's not saying much because 95% of cartoons are episodic comedies. Compare Korra to various mediocre anime and you'll see how bad it is.

I see you have trash taste, Enjoy trainwreck that is season 2 fag

This season is pretty hated here but I remember liking it cause it had lots of cool spirit world stuff and that whole mako propaganda play thing I mean the villain was kinda shit I suppose but I mean there were plenty of 1 dimensional villains in the original show and no one gets pissy about them.

To me, this was a series issue as a whole not just the last season.
Everything happens WAY too fast in ATLA. (The whole series basically spans from November - August).
Sokka and Suki hang out for a day and kiss.
Aang learns waterbending from a scroll and uses it somewhat efficiently in a day. Same with earth bending.
Sokka literally gets ONE DAY of sword training with his master.

I watch anime all the time though I'd say Korra is better than some generic self insert shit

Season 3 of Avatar may have had a few asspulls, but LoK has way too many Asspulls to keep me interested. Korra loses her bending? Aang outta nowhere to give it backl and also give her Energybending for shits and giggles

Katara becomes a water bending master who trains anng with like a week of training it's best not to take the show too seriously

Avatar, no matter if we talk about Korra or Aang is better than 90% anime, though. It has great animation and actual writting which is something japan can only get every once in a blue moon

Lol no. Most mediocre anime is way worse than Korra, too. Great anime is better obvs, but I'd say Korra stands it ground against most popular animes.

I like *aspects* of LOK better than TLA but the deal-breaker is how unlikeable the main character is. Your very first introduction to Korra is throwing a tantrum that Tenzin must drop everything and train her *now* (when there was no pressing issue that needed a fully-trained avatar, she could've continued training any of the other three elements and waited on Tenzin's availability) but upon getting what she wanted she did a 360 and went pro-bending for no other reason than being cock-hungry.

This was just the intro, she gets worse.

People constantly cut her slack due to her avatar status which only makes her brattier. She rarely succeeds through hard work and effort but instead fails upwards (she didn't learn airbending, it just magically started working for her when needed). She makes no spiritual connection, she goes crying over how awful she lost 3 of 4 bending styles when she is surrounded by benders who lost their one and only ability, and then Aang pops up and fixes everything for her.

Somehow, 12 year old Aang was a vastly better person than 19 year old Korra and its a constant source of annoyance trying to watch the show. She is simply an awful, awful person in the middle of a show that otherwise has some decent moments.

Dumb western supremacist fag

The first half of Season 2 had so much good shit going with a civil war. But then DARK AVATARRRR

I don't understand the 'Korra loses her bending' thing. It wasn't like it was the same way of losing bending that Aang does in ATLA. It's stated to be bloodbending and chi blocking.
If the Avatar has the ability to take away someone's bending I don't see why they couldn't also fix their chi paths.
I do wish she had to work a little harder for it, though. But to be fair it was written to be the whole finale so I understand why they did it that way.

Giving her Energybendng for shits and giggles? It was stated to merely be because of Harmonic Convergence she could to that.

I would say LoK is more "uneven" than "bad". Even season 2 which is mostly a clunker has fun character moments with Varrick and the great Wan special.
Maybe it's because I didn't grow up with ATLA but I don't have the same vitrol for LOK that a lot of people seem to have. Mostly just "well, it could've/should've been better".

I actually watch a lot of anime that's why I know what I'm talking about. Unlike you who's probably only ever watched some baby's first titles and thinks it's so great all the time. Protip: it is not. Protip no2: It hardly ever is.

There is some good stuff in there; but the love triangle and dark avatar plotlines are both torturous to me.

Why not? People tale that shit seriously for TLOK, after all. It's the same universe so it should be held to the same standards.
It also would have been easily fixed. All they had to say was like 'the comet is coming in 3 years.' and then spread everything else out more.

Not true. ATLA is a great cartoon for kids, but it lacks a lot compared to anime-- the tone is way too comedic, light hearted to take it seriously at a lot of points, unlike a lot of anime.

Cause both shows are for little children

You're being too vague to take you seriously. Most of anime is predominantly comedic also, and seriousness as understood by Japanese is mostly either pointless edge or sad music and people crying for no reason.
