Anyone else think this review is kinsa bad? This guy doesn't really explain any of his gripes with the show. He just says >characters are bad and annoying Doesn't explain why. >songs are bad and pretend like they're Disney Doesn't explain why. >story is bad Doesn't explain why. He also seems to have a problem with the very fact that they supposedly had an allegory for rape, but he never explains why either, he just keeps pointing at it as if having an allegory for rape is inherently bad by itself.
Now I'm not a fan of SU, and I know there are a lot of good arguments to be made for each of these statements (except for songs, I don't think anyone hates them). Problem is, this guy doesn't make any of these arguments. I've seen anons on here make better arguments than he does. There's no real analysis here, he just states a bunch of his opinions without detailing them for about half of the video.
Another half is him going on a tangent about gender. Now, I must say, that part was pretty educational and the entire story about John Money puts the entire concept of "gender" and its widespread use in a very fucked up context, especially considering how no one seems to talk about it. But why the fuck is this in a cartoon review video? Why not just make a separate video to talk about that?
Lastly, there's the edgy Hitler ending, which I still don't really get. What does this have to do with SU? Is there supposed to be any point to it? I have asked fans of E;R this repeatedly and all of them pretty much say it's there for edginess' sake, not to make any kind of point. Becase he's got a nazi LARP thing going on and this is all part of the joke. This feels really reminiscent of Linkara's old lore dump skits at the end of his videos. I.e., you can't just watch a review out of context, you have to get acquainted with whatever personality and story the reviewer has online to "get" it.
It's a shitpost, don't take it too seriously. His Fury Road review though, shit taste.
