Light Hope was always kind of out of touch with some of the basics of humanity. She knew more than she let on, but I doubt she could have achieved the psychologist-tier picking apart of their memories required to play out those narratives to them. I think the temple worked just by reflecting their subconscious thoughts, basically letting them pick themselves apart. Surely Light Hope was of the mindset that Adora needed to detach, but I don't think she orchestrated the drama beyond throwing around a few spiderbots at the right times.

My natural inclination is to say Perfuma since Scorpia's such a pushover, but I feel Perfuma would want her to develop some confidence and let her take charge.

Well, you're objectively wrong, since Perfuma was already established to be all about getting along with eachother, being supportive of one another, and Scorpia was established as someone who's very dedicated to friendship, but whose dedication stems from deepseated insecurities of not being accepted. Perfuma gives Scorpia the kind of support she needs, while Scorpia is the kind of kindred mind that proves Perfuma isn't alone, isn't the only one in trying to be nice to everyone.
So they're actually a really good match together.

It's really great how Catra pulling up Adora from the abyss in the climax of the story mirrors Catra pulling up Adora from the abyss at the beginning.
Ofrcourse, there are plenty of times when each of them drops the other into the abyss, or fails to hold them, or etc. Like the Promis, but also Princess Prom.
