Why are people so forgiving of her?

Not only that, but some people in the fandom tend to side with her, when it was Cassandra the one who was adopted by a loving man and in contrast Rapunzel lived her whole life being manipulated, lied to and living as a prisiones until she turned 18. Then Cassandra starts to act to her as their Mother Gothel did and begins to blames her for things that weren’t Rapunzel fault and attempts to kill her.

And yet I’ve seen people side with her and blame Rapunzel, my question would be, Why?

Season 3 characterization is really hard for any of us to explain

>really hard for any of us to explain
Explain away! I am willing to listen

Basically a little fairy goes around causing misunderstandings and Cassandra is basically always willing to listen to her over Raps.

I can understand that shoving the Color Out of Space into your heart may cause some mental issues. And she didn't get off scott-free, she's an exiled loser with no powers, no girlfriend, and no glory. Her name is mud and she'll have to live the rest of her life hiding.

Plus the fact that there's strong evidence that Disney interfered with the writing of season 3 for some reason

>Why are people so forgiving of her?

Cute girl, next question

If it was up to you, How would you have handled their character arcs? Would you change anything?

I don't give a single fuck about shows that try and redeem terrorists and genocidal maniacs. This fucking trend started with the newgen MLP and it's been weasling its way into literally fucking everything and it always gives the implication the writer is an apologist for some severe crime they or a friend has committed. It always gives the implication that they never put any thought into their works beyond trying to persuade the audience into believing their villains are sad (and are therefore complex).
I know some people in the industry post on Zig Forums occasionally, so let me ask with sincerity: Don't any of you coffee-guzzling hipsters get tired of this shit?

Don't you get tired of thinking in black and white? I understand nuance is hard but if you try and give it a shot I'm sure you can grow as a person.

>the option to constantly switch between good and evil is equivalent to being morally grey
Try again.

Cassandra terrorized an entire kingdom, tried to kill Rapunzel and Eugene, and only repented when she lost the Moonstone's power.

I suppose that many forgive her for being a cute girl and so the fans fill their fantasies of matching her with [insert character here]

>Don't you get tired of thinking in black and white?
You are responding to a post that argues shows are trying to humanize murderers and terrorists, and
>muh black and white!
is what you lead with.
You are either gay or a woman, so clearly, you have nothing to add to this conversation. Go have another drink.

>misunderstandings

This is absolutely the shittiest writing cliche there is.

Oh my fucking non-existant God I am going to leave you handicapped for life begging and screaming you degenerate imbecile. Go live in Islam where you belong you mental ward terrorist. Irresponsible petty, sadistic, hypocritical, double faced manipulating good for nothing failure. Do you even understand half the words I used, you redneck?

You guys want a true villain protagonist written well? Watch Gargoyles, Batman, Mao Mao, Count of Monte Cristo.
And next year my own book+comic book full of racism/specism, villainous heroes, revenge, death, rightful betrayal, eugenics, religion, utopia, objectice emotions done correctly/done with standards.

smug, cutie and lewd

It's more complicated than that.

Cassandra held so much contempt and anxiety over Punz that at that point, it was less her listening to said fairy and more just pissed Rapunzel to go along with what she said. She didn't exactly trust zhan tiri or consider her a friend, it was just her acting all Vegeta willing to listen to her own personal Babidi.

she's so hot, bros

this. Trauma and being raised to "earn her keep" left her thinking that love and respect were earned rather than unconditional. Raps got both of those in spades, and Cass could barely manage to get a fraction.... even from her own mother

So she's angry and fed up, and out to prove that she doesn't need anybody's respect and that's she's stronger than anyone thought she was. And zhan tiri played to her worst thoughts and desires in that way, until she's able to steal away both her powers and rapunzel's.

and it's Rapunzel who shows that there's more in her than she knows and brings Cass back to her senses

Because even turning her evil in the first place was really stupid

>: Don't any of you coffee-guzzling hipsters get tired of this shit?

I bet they do, People most get tired of it if not they will get tired of it eventually

People are gonna disagree with me but I think Bojack Horseman and Moral Orel are good shows that have bad yet complex character not getting redeemed, maybe it’s because they are aimed to mature audience, I see the trend of forgiven villains being applied a lot in kid shows

She went into self exile so no one had to bother with her anymore.

>only repented when she lost the Moonstone's power

That’s it, she showed no remorse and was going to destroy everything and everyone, it was when she lost her powers, her upper hand when she “apologized” and got “redeemed” and people watching the show forgive her because she is pretty.

I mean why do that? why make a character act worse and worse and in the last second redeem it? It should be an arc, a process, a narrative, a well handled redemption arc can work Atla is proof of that.

>She didn't exactly trust zhan tiri or consider her a friend, it was just her acting all Vegeta willing to listen to her own personal Babidi

Yup, I felt that Zhan tri was a vehicle and acted as an excuse as to why Cassandra betrayed Rapunzel

>Raps got both of those in spades, and Cass could barely manage to get a fraction.... even from her own mother

Are you kidding me? Mother Gothel never love Rapunzel and she treated Her almost the same way she treated Cass on the flashback we saw of her childhood, at least cass got a good father who loved her and built her up, Raps was nothing more than a tool to her “Mother”, Raps was kidnapped and hold prisiones for 18 years and was psychologically abused by a mad women until Eugene discovered her. Cassandra clearly got the better deal out of it, that’s why Cass motivations and hatred toward Raps seems so fuking stupid: They are.

Lmao I wish I knew

> love and respect
> Raps got both of those in spades, and Cass could barely manage to get a fraction.

Not really, Raps didn’t get love she was just being manipulated by Gothel, I wouldn’t even call her Raps’s mother, it’s like saying Quasimodo was lucky that Frollo adopted him and claim Quasimodo was raised in a loving, and nurturing way, it’s a fucking lie, they were manipulated, lied to and psychologically hardwired to be dependent on these awful people, Mother Gothel was only holding Rapunzel hostage because she was getting something out of it, it had nothing to do with love and it’s obvious it affected Rapunzel negatively.

it’s super shitty that people twist Rapunzel story just to make Cass look better when in reality Cassandra was better off without Gothel and got the better half of the deal, why does people shit so much on Rapunzel?

And lastly about the scene you are showing why was Rapunzel the one put into the position of comforting and building up Cass when it should be the other way around? Cass should be the one apologizing and building up Rapunzel specially after everything she did to her in the last season.

You can't blame cucks for being angry and lashing out. You can only discipline them.

The show would work better if the movie had kept mother gothel's original characterizations.
