I think you can enjoy an animated movie purely for the visuals even if the story sucks. The Thief and the Cobbler Recobbled edition is gorgeous, but pretty shit plot-wise.

Yes. It literally looks like rendring of shadows with lighting coming from what's been calculated as looking most cinematic. I don't doubt the movie's plot is wholesome but this looks like cel shaded mediocre-tier Pixar. It has little visual identity besides "you know that shit from 2D" and "you know thgat shit from 3D". It looks artificial, vain, soulless.
