strawpoll.me/20488492 The 2010's will be remembered as the worst decade for feature animation since the 1970's.
>The Lion King 2019 >Alpha and Omega >Norm of The North >The Emoji Movie >The Smurfs 1&2 >The Nut Job >Cars 2 >The Lorax >Hotel Transylvania >Ratchet and Clank >Ice Age 5 >Frozen >Mars Needs Moms >Ralph Breaks The Internet >The Boss Baby >Minions >Trolls >Angry Birds >Shrek Forever After >Turbo >Free Birds >Escape From Planet Earth >Wonder Park >Uglydolls >Sherlock Gnomes >Hoodwinked 2
The corporatization of Hollywood. Pandering to the Chinese film Market. Banking on sequels rather than new ideas.
>Hotel Transylvania
Actually that one wasn't too bad. Now the sequels on the other hand? Not even Mel Brooks could save those.
Eli Clark
Jap crap saves the 10s from being worse than the 60s and 70s
Jackson Robinson
>Turbo >Angry Birds They weren't stellar but by no means were they truly awful. >Hotel Transylvania And now you're reaching. The fact that Sing isn't on here is another black mark against this list.
But otherwise, I think a huge problem was the propagation of easy to acquire and use 3D animation programs. Bad 3D feels so much more viscerally awful than bad 2D, and lazy writers could crank out awful scripts and plop them into theaters quickly.
Chase Stewart
>Angry Birds What's the matter? Too redpilled for you?
Shouldn't we be judging a decade by what's the best it had to offer rather than the worst? >The Tragedy of Man >How to Train Your Dragon >It's Such a Beautiful Day >Song of the Sea >Isle of Dogs >The Tale of Princess Kaguya >Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse >The Red Turtle >Ernest & Celestine >The Rabbi's Cat >World of Tomorrow >Anomalisa >Klaus >Rango >The Lego Movie >Tower >Insects >Frankenweenie Not bad of a decade for animation

>Frozen, Wreck It Ralph 2

>The Smurfs 1&2
Those had live-action elements.
>Cars 2
uh...
>The Lorax
What was so bad about it? and please don't say tumblr fetishization.
>Ratchet & Clank
This one's on Sony.
>Alpha and Omega
What even is this?
>Wonder Park
This one is all Nick.
The rest of this list I'm not even going to pick apart.

>What was so bad about it? and please don't say tumblr fetishization. It completely corrupted Dr. Suess's message of the original book it's based on. It's just sleazy as fuck. Same reason why people don't like Wreck it ralph 2, it did a complete 180 against the message of the original, and even retroactively ruins the original since you know vanellope is going to leave ralph anyway.
Thomas Murphy
Not knowing much about the movie, other than the hilarious degeneracy of the Once-ler fanfiction, and forgetting the specifics of the book, what was the corruption of the message?

Only if you're a dumbass who doesn't watch Yurop movies The 10s was the best decade for feature animation literally ever.
Jordan Stewart
Shrek Forever After is actually pretty solid as a ending to the series.
Every decade's had shit movies mate. You just don't remember them.
Colton Martinez
Don't "come on now" me. The only thing that had potential to be any different from your standard anime trash was Ping Pong The Animation and even that turned out to be disappointing as hell.
Mason Sanders
What original property has Japan made that wasn't shit in 2010? Emphasis on ORIGINAL, so no JoJos bizarre adventure
Joseph Gutierrez
can't wait for the next big thing being CGI reboots of old shit but people will excuse it for being "stylized" despite all of these movies looking like Illumination Minion piss garbage.
Dude, the 90s were filled with shitty films ( Rover Dangerfield, Bebe's Kids, Cool World, Rock a Doodle, Thumbelina, Troll in Central Park, Peeble and the Penguin, Quest for Camelot, Anastasia, etc ) Even watchable stuff like Fievel Goes West, Space Jam or Balto just weren't that great
Tyler Lee
I really enjoyed the stuff between 1995 and 2004 ( Toy Story, Antz, Bug's Life, Toy Story 2, Shrek, Monsters Inc, Jimmy Neutron, Ice Age, Nemo, Shrek 2, Shark Tale and Incredibles, in that order ) Why did things started to get worse inmediately afterwards ?
Colton Turner
Boss Baby wasn't even bad. It was a surprisingly decent movie with witty writing, it just had atrocious marketing because boomers are like retarded chimps.

>>The Lorax >What was so bad about it? and please don't say tumblr fetishization.
I watched it a couple years ago just out of curiosity. It was... not AWFUL, but it was EXTREMELY by-the-numbers. It's like they had a checklist for "what goes into a kids' movie."
Wacky grandma? Check Wacky, funny animals? Check Wacky but at the same time "relatable" protagonist? Check Wacky villain whose only motivation seems to be evil for the hell of being evil? Check Unnecessary love interest? Check Big musical numbers? Check Pointless chase scenes? Check Generic character design? Check Protagonist fails at his endeavors at first only to succeed by sheer chance? Check Identifiable, marketable mascot? Check 'Environmental message' so people can claim it's got a good message? Check
And so on. I'm not sure how much MORE by the numbers it could possibly be. These elements are not inherently bad - they CAN be done well - but the way they were done in The Lorax was just completely soulless. I couldn't get invested in the movie at all.
