Anybody want to explain why the Fire Nation never sent troops west to establish military bases near Ba Sing Se? Why the fuck did they only invade East to west? Why the fuck did our heros travel the far longer way to get from the Earth Kindom to the fire Nation in the series finale? Maybe there are some islands straggling in an ocean on the "far side" but with the fire nation's naval capabilities and the air nomads penchant for world travel, I doubt there's anything continent sized there.
Lets not forget our real planet earth has had more compact distributions of land in the past.
