Transformers G1, at least the first few episodes. If it's too kiddy or old-fashioned for you to get into it skip to the animated movie. Then read the Marvel comics as they are a slightly more mature take. Then Beast Wars maybe?
Don't
Either G1 or something like Cyberverse. It's nice and easy to settle in before you head into too deep.
Tell me about the deep shit
kiss players
there's at least two Megatrons and at least three, maybe as many as seven, Galvatrons in the Marvel G1 continuity, which is actually several different continuities rammed together in an 80 issue 4 issue limited series
Beast Wars is good, but the animation will put people off. Prime is OK, and the animation is OK enough, you could start there.
Go watch the last show first, like Rescue Bots Academy or Cyberverse, then go backwards with any other show in any order, except Machinima´s.
RBA is comfy.
the lastest cartoon is a good enough start, then going back and watching any of them at your own distiction, they're all at least decent with a few exceptions
The michael bay movies
Cyberverse, Beast Wars. Animated. Prime.
G1 seasons 1 and 2, G1 movie (animation classic), G1 season 3. See where to go from there.
>80 issue 4 issue limited series
I love that cover.
The first one, animated, prime
I never cared for beast wars but this track is fire tho
Basically you just have to be really, really accepting of the fact that literally nothing exists in the Transformers universe for any reason other than to sell toys.
>muh toy commercial
Such a stupid and meaningless talking point. It says nothing about the quality of the stories, characters, etc. All comics and cartoons aim at commercial success, whether by selling ad space/comic issues or selling toys.
Wow, did not expect that completely reasonable and true comment to illicit such unbridled fury. Really gotta be careful around those Zig Forums fansoys.
>It says nothing about the quality of the stories, characters
here's a quick rundown for you, the quality of stories is fucking bare minimum effort trash and the only memorable character in the entire franchise is optimus prime.
STARSCREAM YOU FUCKING MORON! ONCE AGAIN YOUR SCIENTIFIC GENIUS HAS LED US ONCE MORE INTO ANOTHER FUCKING TRAP!
For how much of a clusterfuck Regeneration One ended up being, I am happy they did it one more time.
I honestly liked Regeneration One much more than the latter stages of what was going on in the IDWverse at the time. The ending felt like a huge dropped ball (the multiple universes/dark cosmic monster thing felt both unoriginal and tedious), but it was still pretty good. More fun to me, too, than the original Marvel run frequently was.
Read the Marvel comics first, despite the cartoon being more popular the comic (mainly Marvel UK) introduced more recurring things in the series
Beast Wars was like reverse G1 in that the cartoon was more influential.
Starscream gives the Decepticon seal of approval over the G1 proposal.
He went to Decepticon school to earn that badge.
Megatron's ass.
Not him though tell me which deep 2D series you usually consume then. It must be mind blowing if every single TF series is trash compared to it.

Beast Wars. it's the single best show in the franchise and codified most of the lore but it is in a way a sequel to the G1 era (You don't need to watch anything G1 because the sunbrow show was really goofy and cheezy but read the Marvel comic and watch the movie for full context).
Whatever your medium of choice this will allow you to get acquainted with the characters in settings that have familiar elements and carry similar lore.
>Disqualified from the list but well liked
Animated
>None of the prime lore/matrix of leadership stuff and very different Great War lore
Cyberverse
>Optimus isn't the main character and I haven't watched the second season which I hear is where it gets good
