How is he cringe? Because people want him to do nothing but Scout's voice so he does to make the fanbase happy? 80% of the time, he's doing his own thing in TF2 streams and people pay him to do more Scout readings.
If it were up to his followers, he would do nothing but Scout's voice. He embraces it, but he's hardly milking it unless you think a couple of thousand dollars in the past 5 years is "milking".
It's not like Phineas' voice actor from Phineas & Ferb who starts saying shit like, "Phineas says Trans Rights!".

Seinfeld gets to live off of 20+ year old sitcom jokes and everyone would still laugh if he said, "Not that there's anything wrong with that!". I think it's only sad if you try to milk and there's clearly no audience for it, like John K trying really hard to push George Liquor as a character.

How has Valve tried to make TF2 cringe? They don't do it often, but when they actually get around to doing anything with the franchise (Game updates, comics, shorts), it's often great.

With TF3 in development hell, the comic is as well.
Ideally Admin knows about a part of the merc's and hale's history that we just can't fathom yet.
