Late 90s and early 2000s, Warner Bros was trying to rebrand the irrelevant Hanna Barbera IPs as stuff for adults or teens. Space Ghost Coast to Coast, Scooby Doo on Zombie Island, the Real Adventures of Jonny Quest, Sealab 2020, Harvey Birdman Attorney at Law, etc.
Flintstones on the Rocks was part of that push. So they made an adult Flintstones TV special with a lot of sexual humor, experimental animation, adult references, etc. Not rated R or anything, but it definitely is meant for adults (at worst, I think kids would find it boring). Deals very soberly with Fred and Wilma's failing marriage and is kinda fucking depressing.
Cartoon Network aired it once and then suppressed it when they decided not to go all the way adult with their HB stuff. Flintstones are still cereal and vitamin mascots, after all.

Oh yeah, forgot about those. CN also used Scooby to do riffs on Rated-R movies like The Blair Witch Project and Scream in the 90s. The original live-action Scooby movie was even originally written to be a teen stoner sex comedy but got hastily reworked into a kids film at the last minute.
It was honestly kinda cool at the time, seeing CN experimenting and doing over the top shit with their HB stuff. Nobody cared about Yogi or Scooby or the Flintstones at that time, anyway, so it at least got those characters exposure again. I think Universal canning the Funtastic World of Hanna Barbera ride at Universal Studios is what made Warner Bros realize that kids didn't like those characters anymore and only adults or young adults had any attachment to them.
